McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified-- Belt with 5 bowls
I am thinking he made a mistake here but he tweeted that the Tucson, Austin and Orlando bowls were certified for this year. He says Tuscon is CUSA-MW and says that both Austin and Orlando are SB-AAC.

Can that be right -- is the Sun Belt tied into the Austin bowl? I hope it is right but that is not what I understood. If true we have 5 bowls.

Well there is where TXST will always play. No more complaining. But I'm sure there will be complaining that it's not really a trip to somewhere new.

I'm okay with it even thought DKR is massive

There may be some switching off of bowls at some point but the fact that there are now 5 Sun Belt tied bowls is HUGE.
New Orleans, Mobile, Montgomery, Orlando and Austin.

My question is what is the pecking order of picks: 1. New Orleans 2. Mobile 3. Montgomery 4. Orlando and 5. Austin Is that right?

Awesome IF true . . . . And I'm thinking more in terms of the 5 bowl tie ins for the conference, and yes, absolutely great to have one in our backyard . . . Though I'm sure that most of our fans would prefer to travel beyond Austin. . . . .

Of course if we can qualify for it, it should greatly reduce our "travel costs". . . . .03-lmfao

It has been reported by ESPN and CBS Sports that Austin is SunBelt/ACC so I assume it is true.

This pretty much guarantees that any Belt team that goes 7-5 or better will have a bowl now in all likelihood.

1. NO, all others equal, will take closest SBC program with six wins.

Well this helps solve a major problem by getting the Sun Belt tied into a bowl in the western part of the conference. I don't know who to thank for this but it is good news. It also helps explain why the Little Rock bowl did not make this year.

Problem with DKR is even if you get 50k that's still only half full.

I guess this was some kind of last minute change because I remember Austin was originally reported as a CUSA tie. Great news in any case.

No order IMO. Just set it up for the most competitive games first ie say a SB champ/MAC champ, then geographically most sensible next.

It would have been nice to visit Austin. Unfortunately that looks like it'll never happen
