Very well said. When folks question why I don't have intensity for NFL anymore, this is one of many prime examples.

I have have been on Temple's Philly campus several times for family member graduations and to walk through it with my own kids for a possible destination for their college educations. I cannot recall any open space for a stadium let alone parking for game day even if they only put 20k in the stadium on game day. Point me in the right direction as I intend to make one final visit to the Temple campus this year for my last college bound son as we make the final round of campus visitations this spring and summer.

Yes, the latest that I heard was the the stadium area under consideration will be not only the track and turf field but also the housing and tennis court area all the way over to Broad Street. 15th Street would need to be closed off. This huge tract would certainly allow for some parking.

So knock down the field house next to McGonigle and also the row houses. The stadium would sit on Broad Street and stretch all the way past 15th to 16th. This could certainly be a 40k stadium. But I actually favor 30k for better management of car traffic.
There is going to be some traffic but what stadium doesn't have traffic. I took in a game at U Maryland and the traffic was terrible. Same with Pitt and Rutgers.

Thanks JGH. I'll look for that area next visit. Most of the area I have seen is around the Laquoris (excuse he spelling) BB Center, the main quadrangle of the campus, and the student union center.

That's where it's going. Plenty big enough for a 35,000 stadium. Half the row houses in that block of Broad are already torn down, with the rest soon.
If they want the stadium north-south to match the Linc it seems they would close 15th street and put it at an angle.

When I go to games at Rutgers we sit in the parking lot with the grill going and relax for close to an hour if necessary until traffic starts moving pretty good on River Road towards 287. Then we leave town in the opposite direction using back roads to get to the exit east of the River Road exit to head home.

The link worked fine, thanks! One of the facilities mentioned in the article is the Edberg-Olson Practice Facility. I'm confused as to exactly this facility is located. I found a couple of interesting links on the facility, see below.

and a couple of images of interest:

Please don't like Mike's garbage on here. Thanks. We will definitely sell naming rights to raise money considering construction costs are at least 2x everywhere else in the country.

Which are two of the biggest obstacles you could possibly need to overcome. There are about six or seven candidates that have thrown their hat in the ring to run for mayor of Philly, but not one has uttered a peep about supposting an OCS for Temple. Nor will they since it would be political suicide. Giving the Eagles money to build the Linc was easy because all of Philly is nuts for Eagles football. But interest in Temple football is very limited to just the Temple community, as is evidenced by the actual number in attendence at Temple games. In a city that's broke with numerous pressing needs, no politician will be on board to support millions for a stadium that so few genuinely care about. Unless Temple has some extremely wealthy and generous alums, it's hard to see this getting off the ground.

If politics and financing are holding this project up at his time then it sounds like Temple FB is still going to be at the LINC when the current rental contract ends. It really sounds like an OCS stadium is at least a minimum of 5 to 10 years away if not more until the politics are navigated, the financing is secured, the current Olympic Sports fields are moved, and the new stadium is finally built.

It's only political suicide if it's about public money. Otherwise the case can always be made of supporting and helping the city's university. If Temple intends to privately finance then City Hall shouldn't have to hide in the bushes.

Councilman Darrell Clarke, who isn't running for mayor, is the only elected city official who has any reason to have a public position on the stadium since it would be located in his district as is the site of the former Wm. Penn High School where Temple is building athletic facilities which was opposed by neighborhood activists. Otherwise there is nothing relevant for any of the mayoral candidates to discuss about a stadium since there will be no city tax funds involved in the project.

If Temple builds a stadium it will be funded through a combination of donations, issuing debt, naming rights etc. They'll need political support from Clarke to deal with community opposition and zoning, but not for financing.

City Hall will have twice as many in the bushes if its private money... they will want roads resurfaced, utilities upgraded....

Considering the lack of interest in UConn football, if they can get a stadium built, we can too.
