I guess the nightmare scenario would be for the host team to not make the tournament. I wonder if that has ever happened.

South hosted last year and snuck in on the very last day with a win. They then went 2 and Q.

I generally agree with the Belt s stance of only the top 8 making the tourney but you do risk host teams being left out that way.

It was the worst season in our history. Don't bring that up. Lol

We have decent facility. It's not top of the line by any means but the location is great. You're right next to a grocery store and a Walgreens. You can also hit up the river between games you may not want to see the whole of. I know I've done that in the past.
As for minor league fields, there is the San Antonio (AA) park 40 minutes and, of course, UT, 25 minutes away. Oh wait, they think they're a full fledged pro team. Also, if they want to make it worth the trip the park (Whataburger Field) in Corpus Christi is consistently in the top 10 minor league parks list and there's beaches within 5-10 minutes drive. What more could you ask for?

DFW has three minor leagues, LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, Quik Trip Park in Grand Prairie and Dr. Pepper/7Up Ballpark in Frisco.
The 2013 WAC tourney was in GP.

Once it went to 6-2 we just never were really in it.
Congrats to UTA today.
As I have said this conference tourney in May will be very interesting as there are at a minimum 6 teams who could win the tourney IMO.
Glad we play it at our house. Home field advantage is huge in baseball
What? Home field advantage in baseball is the least valuable in the major sports.
Home Park advantage is huge in college. You think our new right fielder had any idea how to play Troy's 25 foot monstrosity they call a right field wall going into this weekend, having never played there before?
Likewise, do you think Bryce Brentz in the MTSU days loved traveling to Jonesboro, AR and its 25 MPH winds blowing in?
Does anyone in their right mind WANT to play at Tigue Moore Field outside of the Cajuns?
Right. If the season turns out similarly to 2013, look who made the championship game in the tourney and where the tourney was hosted. Bodes well for Troy.

It's not that difficult. Georgia State, UALR, and AState cannot host because of lack of facility space, so it just rotates between the rest of you.
I wonder if Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Braves, would ever be considered. Seems like it'd be perfect.

Troy will have to stay in the winners bracket to win the tournament. We don't have nearly enough pitching depth to win from the losers bracket.
I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

I would guess that if you asked opposing coaches/players about where they'd like to play if they couldn't be at home "Tigue" Moore field might be the most selected. Whether you're a fan of the Cajuns or not the atmosphere and hospitality makes it a great environment in which to play. JMO

It would be perfectly empty.

Due to...size? location? home team support? I honestly don't know how much of the tourney attendance is dependent upon local fans. I'm biased, of course, but I would think Atlanta would be a nice destination for it.

Just to give you an idea of the support in Lafayette, when the Cajuns hosted without being a participant as referenced earlier (I think 2001) the tournament still averaged over 3000 a game. I remember reading something about the last time the Cajuns softball team hosted the conference tournament that the softball tournament that year averaged more than any of the previous baseball tournaments not hosted by the Cajuns. We have great baseball/softball fans in Lafayette.
