Ok....
The players on the field are a really lite blue not even Carolina blue almost a Rhode Island Blue. However the fans in the stands are a royal blue (almost royal purple) and gold.

On the right side of the stadium, the red and white patio area outside of the stadium
is concessions, food and beer. It is considered being inside the stadium, lots of leg room.
More like a faux tailgate prior to the game and all open during the game.

Wish i could go. It was a pick of the hat for my Vacation here working in NYC. It was between UCF vs Stanford or UCF vs. Cincy. Of course the former is more of a destination.

Maybe in 2 years!

Very cool to see Cincy doing all it can to get to where they want to be. Hopefully UCF reciprocates.

Palo Alto...come on now...you'll be surprised by Cincinnati. I'm not originally from there so I'm not seeing the city itself through off-colored lenses, just know that it's consistently listed as a Top 10 weekend destination city in America. But enjoy Northern California, at least they've got water there 03-lmfao 04-cheers

The cost of this to get to 40k is crazy. UConn built a 40k stadium for starting purposes at the same price. Cincy must know a call is coming soon or how else do you possibly drop that kind of money on just a couple k seats? Crazy

Not a hater btw, it looks great. I think a previous poster is right also, fix that endzone so it has a couple k bleachers in it instead of the small box it does now. That probally should have been done before or with this.

That is the Lindner Center.

The centerpiece of the $105 million Richard E. Lindner Varsity Village is the Richard E. Lindner Center, which opened in May 2006 and serves as the home for all of the sports programs as well as the centralized support services.

Located between Nippert Stadium and Fifth Third Arena, the Lindner Center is a futuristic eight-story structure which houses offices, locker rooms, and reception and meeting space for each of the sports teams. The administrative services and support areas are also housed in the building.

The emphasis of the Lindner Center programming is on the student-athlete. One entire floor of the building is devoted to the Nancy Hamant Academics Center, which contains study facilities for UC's 530 student-athletes, including over 80 computer stations.

A new athletics training center, equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment, including three hydrotherapy pools, is included in the Lindner Center. The University Health Services for students has been relocated to the Lindner Center and provides expanded medical coverage conveniently located for UC student-athletes. An MRI diagnostic center is also part of the building.

Space for strength and conditioning training in the adjacent Fifth Third Arena has been doubled to 18,000 square feet and has been furnished with the latest in weight training equipment. A new 12,000-square foot practice gymnasium will ease the scheduling of workouts.

Unfortunately, we're paying for logistics more than structure. It's much easier to build an steel erector set in the middle of a field than it is to build a large scale addition in a stadium where the clearance from other structures is down to 5' in some areas, and a large portion of the construction is changing formation of concessions and concourses in a close footprint. There is a ton of work being done to the opposite concourse that isn't shown by a rendering, so that $80M is not just for the 25,000SF press box/luxury suite structure. But truth is, the mobilizations cost a crap ton when you have the logistical nightmare that this project is.

Not crazy at all. The expenditure isn't only to gain a few thousand individual seats. It's also to provide many high-rent luxury suites which will generate significantly more sustained revenue over time than the butts in those extra seats. Other improvements include better access and much better and more spacious concessions and rest facilities.

Because UCF will get to travel to Cinci once every 2 years...thats exactly why the UCF at Stanford Game is the "big road trip" for most UCF Alumni this fall...as UCF may never ever again play at Stanford (or at Cal), so it will probably be UCF's only ever trip to Northern California.

I hope UCF gets to play at Cinci in Sept in coming years so UCF fans can take in a double-header weekend if the Reds are in town too.

Yep. The main purpose for this is the pile of new money it will create for years, the visuals and the improved fan experience. Additional seating is just gravy.

I see your point, but this is about much more than 5k seats. The two magic words in finance: cash flow.

Not sure what you are talking about. The seats at Nippert rise pretty gradually.

Yeah, it's not all that steep. Maybe a little bit at the top of the lower section, but it spreads out toward the bottom. Last year I moved down a couple rows to give myself about a half inch more leg room, which made a big difference.

This picture shows a little better why nothing can really be done to close in that end of the stadium. They could maybe add a few extra seats, but it would take an extremely long time for the revenue from those new seats to make up for the construction cost. Under those current seats are also equipment rooms that were essential when the team did not have a practice facility.

[Image: 456_Nippert_Stadium_Scoreboard_and_End_Zone_Seating.jpg]

As far as doing something on the other side, that is a logistical nightmare as well. The next picture shows what it currently looks like. The Lindner Center directly behind the 2nd deck is only a few feet from the top of the stands. There is nothing that can be built over there that would add more seats.

I know some of you think you have ideas how to add seats to Nippert, but until you have been on our campus and seen just how close other buildings are to the stadium, you really can't grasp how tight space is. It is one of the big reasons this current project is so expensive. That they were even able to put a structure the size of the one under construction now is just amazing. The pictures truly do no justice in showing just how large this thing is.
