Nice Wally
According to posts on the Sun Belt board, from local listeners, Wally suggested that our hiring of Chris Beard was an indication that we are likely to move to DII in the near future. Can you believe that crap? On paper, this is as good a hire as we could have made. No it won't create a buzz, sell season tickets, or get us more mentions in Wally's column. But, it might well result in winning DI basketball in Little Rock.

Well now let's see:

1) Joe Foley came from Division II and has been the most successful Division I women's coach in this State for quite a few years running.

2) Wally never mentions UALR in his column anyway, so how is that different?

3) Scotto has already committed to becoming a season ticket holder again, so there is your evidence that the prospect of winning basketball sells tickets.

Chasse is getting ready to hit a home run!

"Who could we get that would be any better (than Steve)?" Looks good on paper, but games aren't played on paper. Could be another Joe Foley or another Mike Newell. Or he could be another Jim Platt. I'm liking what I'm hearing.

He will win and he will continue to do it the right way. When you get recommendations from Bill Self, Rick Barnes, and Bobby Knight that tells you something.

You mean you would believe those three nobody coaches' endorsement of Coach Beard's coaching ability over Wally Halll's opinion? Really! I am shocked! Shocked!

Ya, it was a close call. Wally certainly "believes" he knows more than all 3 combined.
