Where does it stop? When does the scorecard for the level of "sin" get hashed out?
As a Christian, this type of stuff just embarrasses me to no end. It's really simple...love God and love others. End of discussion.
i think for me and many others is that it is not about a cake, a pizza, or whatever product you can think of. It is having the choice, the freedom to decide who or what group you want to have a business relationship with. As a Christian I was taught not to judge and I do my best not to. I do not discriminate against anyone and welcome business from all. BUT in america one should have the right to chose with whom they want to conduct their business with period. The govt is not supposed to make that decision. Does not mean I agree or you agree but it is their right to conduct their business how they want to.

Again...it's really quite simple. There's no caveats...no sin score card. Take it from the man himself:
Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

This is disgusting. These schools need to grow up. It's not Ball St's fault.

As a team that got screwed out of a 6-6 record because Kent's equipment truck got lost I don't really see the outrage here.

To me this nails it. Some conservative Christians are so anti-gay that they want to legalize predjudicial treatment of other citizens. I am a Christian too, but the words of Christ are quite clear on how you are to treat others, including enemies and those who are different than you. Nick, I lost a lot of respect for you in your tirade. I think you are better than that. Sometimes you need to take a step back and think what if would be like if you were in the other person's shoes.
And yes, Buffalo should play at Ball State, it is ridiculous to carry it to that length, Ball State did not make this law. However, if the NCAA pulls out or businesses pull out if the law is not changed, I think that does make sense. Indiana's leadership needs to take a step back and reconsider the message of intolerance and bigotry they are sending. It is pretty clear.

Funny coming from a Kent fan...
Well played! Really an apple to orange comparison though.
You can whine forever. No forfeit, no bowl game. Get over it.

BTW, isn't the saga in Indiana nearing an end?
I assume that we have to hear if the states, etc. which were going to boycott IN are satisfied with the amended law.

Exactly. The fact is that the Indiana and the New York politicians are both trying to do the EXACT SAME THING---namely politically pander to their respective perceived political bases and, of course as always, people get screwed in the process, but never enough to ever change the system by voting out incumbents who play these games (which is close to 100% of them).
The name of the game is stir up controversy in order to energize your political base. Politicians manipulate the electorate thru fear and anger and are experts at doing so and the American public falls for it EVERY SINGLE TIME.

This is a religious issue not a race issue. I don’t want anyone from any race getting hurt.

This story is exactly what I don’t want to see happen to people. Having people in this business getting death threats is not the answer.

no, this a legalized discrimination against a minority group issue, not a religious issue. Bigoted business owners are not the victims here, no matter how hard they claim to love Jesus.

Religious people cited the Bible to defend segregation. There are countless laws in Leviticus that say mixing things together is a sin and there are more instances in the Bible where it says slavery is okay than it says homosexuality is wrong.
If this were fifty years ago, you'd be ranting and raving about Woolworth's right not to serve African-Americans.

Props to Gov Cuomo. Now if Delaney would do the same, law will be out by the end of the business day. Sports can be a powerful tool for combatting social injustice.

Yup. This was never about "religious freedom" and always completely about politics.
This was brought to a head by bakers, florist, and photographers being put out of business (by the government) because of their religious beliefs. The Indiana law was far from perfect but it was about "religious freedom".

Any baker not smart enough to say to a gay couple they morally refuse to takes money, "sorry, we are too busy, here are some other bakers near by" and instead say "you disgust me and we don't serve your kind" wasn't going to stay in business for long anyway.

Exactly. Or even further back, it would be about women having the right to vote. People will look back on this law in 40 years and go "what the hell were they thinking?".
