You are correct. Family season tickets for GT games for a long, long time and that is not changing anytime soon. Just the way it is. If there's a conflict, I'm at Bobby Dodd.

Fully noted for the next time a Ga state fan calls out Southern fans for being closet UGA fans. Lol.

Raised a Tech fan because of more family connections than I can count. I doubt most of your fanbase can say the same about UGA.

"Lol"

So Georgia state is your secondary team? Gotcha.

I don't look at it that way. Going to Georgia Tech games is a lifelong activity with my father, who is getting up there in age. I value family and this works for me.

I consider you to be fan of Georgia Southern second, and a fan of obsessing over other fanbases first. That's your true passion.

Thanks, guys, for telling me how to be a college sports fan, something that is entirely voluntary in the first place. Really helpful stuff!

There is nothing wrong with admitting you are a bigger Ga tech fan than you are of your alma mater.

But I'm not.

My fandom of GSU and GT serve different purposes. One is ingrained in me and will always be there, the other I picked up when I went to school there, and football/recent B-ball success has certainly upped the game. The two, right now, don't overlap much, the exceptions being when GSU got a couple transfer O-linemen from Tech our first year of football, when Tech stole GSU WR commit Clinton Lynch last-minute last year (which I wasn't a fan of), and when GSU played at Tech in basketball about a decade ago, which I attended in the student section in GSU gear. Of course the Bill Curry, John Bond and Joe Hamilton connections to both are noteworthy, too.

For instance, watching the Baylor win was my favorite college basketball experience ever, hands down, beating Georgia Tech's run to the championship before I was even in school. And I have the man in this thread's title to thank for it, in large part. So, thanks RJ. I'll be a little bit of a fan of whomever you play for in the league.

For you, there is nothing wrong with admitting you obsess over what Georgia State posters post.

Raised a Tech fan with numerous family connections and have gone to tons of GT games before realizing my alma mater was much more important.

I was beside my brother(GT '02) during the GS/GT game, who I cheered along side for years, we were polar opposites during that game. It was a very different feeling considering the numbes of games we've attended together cheering for GT. That game sparked the first football argument during Thanksgiving my family has ever had (in fun of course). It drove all the wives & mom nuts. It as truly a house divided.

Wow. Really railing on a guy who chose to do something he used to with his father, because his father is getting up in years. My dad is 80 years old. Played football in college. Needless to say his mind and body isn't what it used to be, suffers from emphysema. He can't do heat. He can't really do stairs due to his knees. I have missed a few State games to do something my dad wanted to do. What I would give to be able to have my dad at any sporting event like we used to. Dad and I used to go to Tech games as well when I was a kid. If he told me tomorrow he wanted to go to Tech game the same weekend as a State game, and he could handle it... I'd buy the tickets in a heart beat. Why? Not because I love Georgia Tech more than Georgia State, but because I love my dad more than either.

Yeah... you might be a better "fan" of your team, but I know who the better person is. Geez.

Sorry man. I treat this as if we have a conversation at a bar or something. Keeping the in person aspect also keeps a level of respect, internet or not, even for Southern fans.

No reason to rail on a guy, because he made a family decision.... just because it is the internet. But that is just me.

Maybe you'd tick fewer people off if you actually did treat it as a real conversation. Instead, you rightly got called out for being petty and holier-than-thou. For someone who claims to not take anything seriously, you obviously thought it was important enough to keep harping on the fact that I'm a fan of another team alongside my alma mater, for entirely valid and understandable reasons (to any reasonable person).

because I am sure people on here are treating things as real conversations when calling southern alumni hicks, app alumni goat humpers, etc etc.

Or maybe we should take it seriously when Panama tells someone that they shouldn't talk about basketball because of the school they went to. Sure. let's treat this entire forum as an actual conversation that we would be having with a friend at a bar.

Lighten up Sally. It is a fan message board. State fans take jabs at Southern have UGA fans, and you opened the door wide open for trash talk. If you can't handle some smack talk or you are someone who gets riled up or offended by what random people on the internet say, I'd suggest staying off the internet.

I don't use any of those terms for people on message boards, and I don't tell anyone what sports they can and can't talk about. I like legit smack talk, and yeah, I started it for a laugh in a thread about a GSU player that once again morphed into a bunch of Southern talk, somehow (I'm really not sure how). If you wanna talk about teams/game results/players/coaches, let's go. I'm game. I think it's bad form to tell someone how to be a fan, or who to be a fan of and how much, especially when it comes to family and lifelong loyalties.

Again, for someone who doesn't take any of this stuff seriously, you sure spent a serious amount of time on this board and the GSU board trying to make sure we understood your proper context for the NCAA win. Like, a ton of time. But when you understandably piss someone off, it's not serious and we need to lighten up. Got it, big guy.

DraftExpress has RJ at No. 25 on its prospect board. The latest from Bleacher Report's lead NBA writer has RJ going 24 to the Spurs. As a Hawks (Spurs East) fan, I could get behind that. Would be very cool.
