OT: Jalen Reynolds campus "incident"
In case you want to see the UC/XU double standard operate in real time, Jalen Reynolds is being investigated for an "altercation" but will still get to play the rest of XU's season. No outrage from the local media and no one investigating what the actual "altercation" involved.

In fact, some members of the media seem downright giddy that he will still be able to play:

Double standard? It's almost like we aren't a week away from a UC player assaulting someone on national TV and playing 2 days later...

Some a$$clown from Independence wrote a letter to the editor in today's Enquirer fishwrap completely trashing UC and Ellis.

No surprise. Reynolds has had character issues since high school, yet Xavier decided to pursue him anyways.

Now will they get called out by the media for continuing to bring thugs into their program? Of course not.

Almost as if.....your school burries drug use and sexual assault....your school sweeps arrests by the private campus police under the carpet ...your school cooks the books to get a diploma in every hand....

But compared to the other school you root for, this is all child's play.

Yes, X has no moral high ground on this or any issue post-brawl, if they ever did prior. The behavior of their fans @ Cintas that day, post-game player comments, and failure of their coaches and leadership to act responsibly in the aftermath showed their true colors.

And yes, they can sweep it under a rug as their keystone cops are not duly sworn law officers of the state of Ohio as they are @ UC.

You have examples or evidence of any of this?
You're right though, at least Ellis paid for his tattoos. The horror!

What do you mean?

Hitting the media now:

Xavier University officials investigate report involving star basketball player
Jalen Reynolds to travel, play with team
By: Jesse Folk

Updated: 19 mins ago

CINCINNATI -- A star Xavier University basketball player is under investigation by campus officials.

Men’s basketball coach Chris Mack confirmed Tuesday that an incident report involving Jalen Reynolds was filed recently.

“I can confirm there has been a report filed with the university. There has been no status change [for Reynolds.] It would take a 4-5 week investigation to find out what happened. He will be traveling with the team, and playing with the team,” Mack said.

The coach only answered one question on the topic and abruptly moved the conversation to another topic saying, “I’m going to start answering questions about basketball.”

Reynolds is a sophomore at Xavier. He is a 6 foot 10 inch-tall forward on the team. He was a key part of Xavier’s victory over Georgia State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The Musketeers will head to the West Region semifinals to meet No. 2 seed Arizona next. It’s the team’s fifth Sweet 16 appearance in the last eight years.

Didn't realize Ellis beat down and then pulled a gun on Hammonds. Missed that he assaulted him. It was a hard foul and while he said he was going fore the box out, honestly I believe he was looking for payback from the elbow that caused him to bleed and leave the game a few minutes earlier and he tried to make it look like a box out. He should know he is under the microscope and can't do that. It was stupid and he hurt and embarrassed his team. But to call it assault is just being idiotic.

There is a rule in the rulebook and it was followed to the letter. He was ejected and there was no punch thrown, thus per NCAA rules he was eligible to play. Lots of players get flagrant twos and get ejected in this day and age. It happens. End of story.

UC's football team had a couple incidents over the season and each of them player was immediately put on leave until the details were figured out. We have aired on the side of caution.

If this had happened to a UC player during the NCAA, would we have put the player on hold. Don't know. The word altercation is hazy. Maybe there was a fight at a party and he was there or something. Maybe it will be bad. Who knows. Maybe the coaches talked to him and witnesses and felt comfortable with his story. We will see down the line. Its not my program, so I really don't care one way or the other.

The FBI literally investigated Xavier like 2 years ago for covering up a rape that occurred on campus.

All UC fans are asking for is for Xavier fanboys to come down off their high horse. They act like they are the holy grail of clean, moral programs, while UC is ghetto trash. Yet Xavier takes its chances on guys with character issues just like everyone else, has its percentage of classless fans just like everyone else, and has had both on- and off-the-court issues just like everyone else. I don't think Xavier is any better or worse than anyone else in this regard. Yet despite the fact Mick Cronin has done a ton to clean up our program, Xavier still has nothing but negative things to say about us and STILL many XU fans think the brawl was completely UC's fault.

So, you're saying that a called foul in a Basketball game is equivalent with "battery"? (Assault is verbal, battery is physical.) That's a novel legal interpretation that NO prosecutor has taken up...even with far more egregious violations (ie. with a hockey player deliberately striking someone with a stick, or a pitcher deliberately throwing at the head...) Did we see Suh get arrested for his deliberate stomping on players in the NFL?

Not only that, it is curious because I am quite sure that we could find violations on the part of Ohio State players in all sports, who lost their composure and deliberately punched, kicked, or otherwise struck another player outside of the actual play taking place on the court or field. Perhaps the Columbus police should move to take those players into custody and the local DA prosecute them for their battery as well?

Oh, I forgot... The players and students at THE Ohio State University are blameless and as pure as the driven snow... It would be preposterous to raise questions about them, just the criminals at UC.

A 4-5 week investigation? Did he commit a homicide? Wait that is the zip 'em up crew.

Gotta love Chris Mack teams.

None of the players involved in the fight with Michigan two years ago were suspended...

I was listening to Mo yesterday on the radio. He said people ask him why he never talks about XU on his show. He did admit first and foremost that he is a UC fan and that would be like listening to a Pittsburgh Steelers fan talk about the Bengals. But then he went on to say that talk radio is driven by things/topics that people want to complain about. He said XU fans never have anything to complain about. Players don't get in trouble, coaches leave and they just plug in another good one and they keep churning out Sweet 16's. 03-puke

I guess he's right. No one likes to talk about rape scandals on the radio.

"Xavier needs to step out of the Catholic tradition of sweeping things under the rug and realize that it is not a university's responsibility to ‘educate' rapists," -Caitlin Pinciotti, a former Xavier student, is one of two victims who have filed complaints to the OCR after she was allegedly assaulted by Sean Marron in November 2008.
