AZ fan here, if JP goes to ASU it is a HUGE step down and I am not being biased because ASU is our rival. They have an apathetic fan base for basketball and only draw a decent crowd when we play there (I think they average about 4,000 fans other than our annual game there) Memphis is one of the best destinations for a coach IMHO with tons of upside. Oh, did I mention, ASU will not pay anywhere near the Memphis pay scale. And last, good luck out recruiting Sean Miller, not gonna happen at ASU.
Sad that it takes an outsider to see this, thank you sir

Yes, most of our Pastner bashers have a singular train of thought and are unable to process information that doesn't fit into that tiny window.

Not trying to be disrespectful, Memphis is my second favorite team and frankly, I agree with everything you are saying. The right coach will kill it in Memphis, should be a top 25 every year.

Some are hostile to any message that does not degrade everything about JP in some way... So, do not pay too much mind.

Very true, but be careful; some posters get very bent out of shape if you use the "B" word to describe Memphis fans.

I have supported Pastner but I have also been very critical of him this year. It is disappointing to see how many really good posters don't post here, and some of the new guys that they have been traded for.
I am going to give it my best effort to be more civil and to let more stuff slide when it comes to posters that are always blasting every little thing about Pastner.
In the end we are all Tiger fans, and we want the best for the program.

Thanks for your reply Rogar. It is nice to see someone outside our program see it as a top program. I was just trying to show that some of our "so called fans" would like to see it crumble just so they could say they were right about Pastner and get him fired. He has another year I think and I really hope he proves all these people wrong. Some don't like him because he is an upstanding individual and they prefer the dirty dogs.

You don't think a new coach would keep Keelon Lawson? You don't think the guys who have considered transferring away from Josh wouldn't be thrilled to stay here and play for a legit coach?

Arizona State would be lucky to have him.
You don't know what you got till it's gone as they say.
Some folks are willing to sacrifice intergrity for "winning"
at what cost. Oh the shortsightedness.

Haha those players would be jumping for joy if Pastner left. And the past players of Pastner's regime would be thinking, "Why couldn't this have happened when we were there?!?" Except DJ, Geron, and Dixon of course!

The only way this happens is if our boosters are willing to supplement Josh's salary for a few years to make him "whole". I doubt ASU is willing to pay anywhere near $2.65MM/yr for its basketball coach.

NO. Not by the coach we will end up with. They will be free agents.
Technically true, but if this were to go down, Keelon Lawson had better be the FIRST phone call the new hire makes with a raise in hand.
