Notre Dame survives Northeastern 69-65 to open the day. The Irish lost a 10 point 2nd half lead and forced a Northeastern turnover with 2 seconds left when ND was only up 2 to seal the win.

So... should I not have picked Iowa St to make the title game?

(14) UAB 60 - (3) Iowa St 59

Ouch, that one hurts for my bracket. Only 1 game but that doesn't help the Big 12's rep as best conference when your champ loses in game 1. This certainly helps Duke's Final 4 odds when the 3 seed in their region drops out early.

In retaliation for UAB wrecking 1/8 of my Elite 8, I am tempted to slightly "tweak" their forum's look just a tad.

Like, taking their banner and flipping it upside down until they lose.

Why not mess with the Big 12 or Iowa State. They're the ones that lost.

The Big 12's in the tank. Georgia St just ended the game on a 13-0 run with the coaches' son scoring 12 of those points. Coaches' kid hits a LONG 3 pointer with 3 seconds left to grab a 1 point win over Baylor.

The Big 12 loses to two 14 seeds in the opening afternoon.

What a great (best) conference the B12 was this year lol. They were and are a joke this year.

Big XI sugar daddy Texas about to flame out to Big East Butler. I think Miami should have got in over UCLA/Texas.

UNC survived Harvard, which is all you have to do this time of year. Harvard came back late and even took the lead with 80 seconds left but the Heels win 67-65.

It hasn't been pretty ... but the ACC is undefeated so far. NC State collects another unit. UNC collects another unit. Notre Dame collects another unit.

Wow! NC State comes from behind to win it in the last 0.1 seconds. Nice win. Congrats!

So far so good for my rooting interests.

The only game that really went against me was the Purdue/Cincy game. I just really wanted the AAC to be out of the tournament.

My strong dislike of WVU and the Big12 saved the day. Perfect scenario in this regard.

In other games I generally root for power teams over the others because I don't like whiners. I generally consider the BE power in bball but I like to see them lose when it comes down to it.

Great comeback for NC State! I thought that game was over at the half.

I was more optimistic, I thought it was over at the 9 minute mark of the second half. LSU played too few kids for too long, however our big three couldn't toss the ball in the ocean the last 5 minutes of the game.

We could beat Villanova or lose by 30 - who knows with the team?

C'mon 4x4, hasn't cincy had it bad enough? Can't root against us that much. UC vs UK on Saturday. We are gladly accepting the nation's support.

Any UofL fans going to watch?

Good win for NC State. Glad to see LSWHO get sliced and diced at the end.

Very happy to see big wins for UAB and GSU. Picked them to my Final Four and natl. championship... it could actually still happen!?

Sounds like you do *care* about some other games besides ND ones.

I'm guessing your teams are ND and anyone who plays LSU.

My husband was very disgruntled for the majority of the State game and kept switching away from the game. I was following it on Twitter. When State got it back to being down 6, he turned back to the game for good. Needless to say, there were loud exuberant shouts of joy from both of us when that last shot fell at 0.1! Luckily the neighbors did not call the cops on us for disturbing the peace. 01-lucy

At about the 9:51 mark in the second half, when Freeman missed that dunk attempt, I turned the game off because I couldn't take it no longer.

My phone chimes and I see that State has cut the lead to 5, I check my Twitter and some chick has tweeted:

Kyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyle (or something like that), and since I'm a glutton for NC State ____ punishment, I turned back to see the last 3 minutes.

Pissed my wife off when Anya made that last shot as she was sleep and I raised my hands in the air. Fun times :)

I didn't realize until later that LSU when the last 10 minutes (or so) without a FG, and was missing every FT.

Amazing stuff.

Makes up for last season.
