RE: Thanks Josh
If Josh torched the program, you need to also include the guy who lit the match…John Calipari.

Cal didn't light the match. RC did.

RE: Thanks Josh
Well, if I remember correctly, coaches weren't exactly lining up for the job. That's why JP will continue to be our coach for at least one more year. Our options are pretty limited.
Besides, he didn't "torch" the program. We are in pretty much the exact same place we were before Calipari.
I'm not satisfied either, but it wasn't all his fault. We have a young team AND losing Austin was a killer.
I think that Josh deserves at least one more season. We have another top 10 recruiting class coming in, and more importantly, Austin will be back.

If Tom Bowen doesn't fire Josh Pastner, he is officially the worst Memphis AD in memory. Despite the way it was done, at least RC had the cajones to fire somebody when it was time.

Fortunately Bowen is not as trigger happy as fans. The bigger picture for Memphis athletics is football success and conference affiliation. In this day and age basketball has taken a back seat to everything else. If Bowen gets his way Josh will not be fired for the sole reason it would cost a sh!t load of money that could be used to continue our football and expansion efforts.
Now if the boosters get their way... well that's a whole other story.

If that's his strategy he's even worse than I characterized earlier. I know football diehards don't like to hear this, but Tiger basketball is the university's cash cow. Abandoning its goodwill in favor of entering the arms race of college football is a bad strategy.

Bowen just found out we had a basketball program. He had never heard of the sport til recently. He will not fire him I think he wants fans attention off basketball and all that passion and support to the football side. I dunno it seems he does some weird things in regards to the basketball program. He is putting a strange vibe on the program and I think nationally we are taking a hit and seem to be sliding into mediocrity which is a sad day.

If I'm not mistaken the boosters pay almost 80% of Josh's salary, so in reality it's not costing the school nearly what people think!! I could be wrong but this is what I've heard!!

You are right. Actually the percentage is higher than 80% I think.

We'll always remain small time if we promote basketball as our primary sport. There isn't enough money in college basketball for the athletic program to survive long term. College football is the cash cow, and we need to be on that train for the long term viability of Memphis college athletics. Otherwise we'll end up going the route of the current Big East schools, and will never even sniff close to the revenue generated by a P5 school.
