THERE IS NO COW TO EAT! "MISERABLES' ARE NOT CRAZY
The so-called "miserable" do not hate on Josh because we dislike Josh or are not real fans.
Most fans who are critical of Josh have become fed up with:

1). Getting blown out on National TV MULTIPLE times
2). Josh's teams getting punked-out against physical teams
3). Josh's teams having no sense of mental toughness.
4). Blaming the players
5). Underachieving with good talent.
6). Lack of an EFFECTIVE OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE SYSTEM!

Those who are critical of Josh are not "crazy". We do have valid reasons for being critical. Most of us were huge Josh supporters at some point but have lost faith in CJP as a coach over the years because of the above reasons.

Now last night's game was an effort that most fans would be proud of. For the most part we played solid defense and we did not back down on offense. Now we also know that UCONN is not your typical UConn. However, the defensive effort and the offensive aggressiveness were both areas that showed improvement. Good game coach Pastner.

I am a fan of the Memphis Tigers, not the coach! How would you feel if Tic Price was still the coach?

All of what you say may be true, but calling for his firing this year is pointless and counterproductive. He WON"T be fired until after NEXT season, if ever. Besides the huge buyout involved, Bowen and our boosters have to consider the following:

Yes, but also consider:

(1) He inherited a gutted mess of a program left behind by Calipari (who took the best players to Kentucky with him), and prevented a disaster
(2) This year will make six winning seasons in a row (despite many injuries)
(3) Pastner is among the Top 5 winningest coaches under 40 in Division 1 (http://athlonsports.com/college-basketba...s-under-40 )
(4) He is an excellent recruiter
(5) His players graduate and stay out of trouble
(6) Due to experience gained at our expense, he is a better coach than when we hired him and gets better every year
(6) We don't have to worry about him cheating or embarrasing the university. He doesn't even cuss.

Firing Josh this year would make it extremely difficult to ever hire a decent replacement at an affordable salary.

I would attend games and support my school. When I feel any coach needs to be fired, I contact university officials privately and express my opinion. Note that Tic was quickly fired when necessary without fans "voting with their feet" or complaining on message boards.

1). Yes he inherited a mess. HOWEVER, Coach Cal left the MEMPHIS BRAND higher than it has ever been. No one can deny that!

2). With the Memphis brand being what it was, winning seasons in CUSA would have been a moderate task for most decent coaches.

3). First 4 years with the Memphis Brand being what it was and the Memphis city recruiting base being so furtile, winning CUSA was an easier task than it would have been if Coach Pastner had done it in the ACC or Big 12. Last year was the first year in the AAC, we had a team full of above average senior guards = we get blown out and punk out vs. Virginia

4) I agree
5). I agree
6). I agree

The idea that firing a coach any coach makes it hard to hire another coach. Is simply not true.

I don't post this to defend the coach but lack of an effective offensive and defensive system might not be as bad as we tend to think.

In the AAC, the Tigers rank 2nd in scoring offense, 3rd in scoring margin. We're not a great shooting team as we rank 4th and 5th in FG % and 3 pt FG% respectively.

Defensively we're not good ranking 6th in scoring defense but still hold teams to 39% FG % which puts us 4th in the conference. We rank first in the conference in 3pt FG% defense. If you listen to Coach Pastner you know he hates giving up 3's so you can tell it's a focus. (sounds like coaching).

We are first in the conference in offensive rebounds, 4th in defensive rebounds.

Turnovers...... no surprise here, we rank 9th in the conference in turnover margin. We rank 4th in the conference in assist to turnover ratio.

We lead the conference in blocked shots
We lead the conference in steals
We are second in the conference in assists.

All it means is by American Athletic conference standards we don't suck. The conference is down this year, hell all of college basketball outside of UK is down this year.

Firing a coach who has won 72% of his games and gone to 4 straight NCAA tournaments with a huge buyout would indicate that the expectations are probably a little too high at Memphis. Coaches would consider that among other factors. It's silly to say it wouldn't affect a coaches decision to come here.

RE: THERE IS NO COW TO EAT! "MISERABLES' ARE NOT CRAZY
What is important is that we got another one of these threads.

Let alone the incredible idea that those types are so insecure they bring this garbage up so often.

It is not miserable to critically comment on this down year...relatively speaking, or perhaps the last few teams coming up a game short of the Sweet Sixteen. Throw in that even while teams have had some nice wins especially last year, on occasion the losses were too big and critical comments seem fine.

What IS MISERABLE is ranting about that stuff with zero attention to anything positive that indeed has been accomplished, never letting any of that go, coming up with nothing new, trolling again, and basically being a fisherman.
