That's because the refs swallowed their whistles again last night. Cicny had barely any fouls against them most of the night, and a Tulsa team that averages somewhere around 25 FT's a game shot only 13. Our 2 pt fg% was abysmal because our guards would drive in, get hacked... And then get no calls.

I'm not saying Cincy wouldn't have still won, because we weren't shooting the FT's we did get very well... But I think it would have changed the tone of the game if Tulsa had gotten the calls it normally does.

This is laughable. UC didn't even shoot a free throw in the first half. You were held under your FT shooting average because 1) That # of FTs is absurdly high and 2) UC is a defensive team that actually moves their feet, stays in position, and doesn't foul their opponents.

#2 is just wrong. You are a defensive team... But there was a ton of contact that wasn't called. Especially in the second half Tulsa had drawn 2 fouls 3/4ths of the way through the 2nd half and it wasn't like we weren't driving the ball and making contact.

#2 is very correct. UC is #6 in the country in scoring defense. They are #11 in the country in fewest fouls committed per game. They defend without fouling.

And my name is Santa Clause.

Nice to meet you Mr. Kringle. I am sorry that you don't know what a foul actually is.

See, this is where you don't understand how officiating works. Refs are allowed to let contact go, as long as they establish a baseline for what they will allow and call it even. Our post players were getting hacked in the lane frequently but there was nothing to complain about because that's how the game was being called.

This sounds like so much sour grapes I don't even know where to begin. I GUARANTEE you were one of the ones in attendance last night wailing after every play.

LOL, first there is a conspiracy by the AAC to help UC win the game. Now, when presented with the fact that we are ranked #6 in scoring defense but #11 in least fouls, we still foul a lot... must be another conspiracy to help UC get away with fouling, eh?

It's almost as if I knew what I was talking about huh? Craziness.

The ability to get to the foul line is not a skill in itself. The ability to take advantage of lazy or poor defense and draw contact is. It's a matchup type stat more than a team stat. Quoting average FT attempts makes me LOL so hard I feel like im back on AIM.

RE: Tulsa - Cincinnati Thread
I'll start by saying I think the officiating was fine. They made some good calls and some bad calls both ways. It's for sure not why we lost, but using free throw disparity as a basis for better treatment, I don't believe is an accurate way to do so. Of course we are going to shoot more, because we can't hit sh t from outside, so we just try and attack the basket. Many times officials blow the whistle for very minor contact on a drive so that helps us and other teams that constantly drive the lane. Just sucks we can't shoot free throws. That and Cincinnati's defense beat us. Not the officials.

You would be mistaken about who I am. You can actually see me on the highlights. Additionally, during games I'm very understanding of opponent calls. I've played a lot of basketball. Some against college level competition even. I've watched a ton more. Probably more than anyone who's not a full time media member. I've been around the media who cover the game, the players, and the coaches from many programs.

I know what a foul is. There were a couple on Cincy's end that weren't called down low. But there were also some offensive fouls that weren't called that I didn't even mention. Specifically an elbow from Ellis to Swannegan straight in the chin in the first half. Swannegan just looked at the ref after going "are you serious?"

Ultimately, my intention was never to "whine" as people have put it. I even said there's a good chance Tulsa still wouldn't have won if we had gotten the extra couple fouls. (we couldn't hit a FT to save our lives and I saw that)

All I'm saying is instead of a 9 point easy victory down the stretch... It may have been closer to a 2-3 point game at the end of regulation.

Really I have no problem with Cincy. (Other than some Cincy fans weird propensity to flat-billed hats) They played well overall and their guards were great. It would just be nice if the league officiating was cleaned up.

I know that it was far fetched and almost certainly a coincidence. Just a thought though. And I'm not denying Cincy's rankings... Just the fact that they didn't make contact that would normally be called a foul.

Tulsa v Cincy was well officiated. Tulsa simply doesn't have the inside players to handle Cincy's quick jumpers-they did the same thing to SMU who has 4 good inside players. They are one of the better defensive teams in Nation-best I've seen in person this year

Not true. We lost pretty badly to the likes of OSU and UCONN.
