“I want Huskie Stadium to be open 365 days a year,” Frazier said. “There’s something very collegial about college stadiums and college athletic facilities that the general student population really wants to be a part of. When I first got here I talked to rec sports … about the rec sports programs having their championship games on our facilities, in our indoor facilities, in our Convo, on our field. Why not?”

I am thinking that the East side structure will include an indoor rock climbing wall as part of the rec.

You can see the location for this on the master plan for the "outdoor adventures" lobby which is completely open all the way up to the top of the suite level.

Aren't there already enough venues on campus for student recreation?

i remember my buddies had their flag football rec championship inside huskie stadium. wonder what happened.

Great idea. We used to play recreational ultimate frisbee inside Huskie Stadium and it was awesome. Also used to shoot hoops at Chick Evans on the official court here and there.....

Frazier said the Athletic Department is still in the “silent phase” of talking with donors, supporters and corporations to see which facilities they’re interested in funding first. He said he’s heard interest from supporters for all of the facilities.
“I have to do my due diligence to make sure whatever we do, we do it right and we do it for the right reasons,” Frazier said. “It’s more important for us to get it right instead of just speed it up.”

The Grotto is off campus and does't count unfortunately

The Grotto is off campus and does't count unfortunately

Unfortunately, the Grotto is dead and will never again count for anything....except, of course, warm and wet memories.

I didn't know they stopped having the rec championships in the athletic facilities? They did 10 or so years ago.
