While short if Sweet sixteen for sure...you would hope the last four seasons of NCAA teams, advancing teams, thirty plus win teams, conference player of the year teams, sweepers of Louisville teams with a progression that ended up last year in five ranked wins and a NCAA tourney win...would not be ignored either...not indicating I do not want even more success.
A down year in the middle of NCAA tourney years, of which there is a real chance as early as next season could result in getting over the hump.
Lots being ignored here. Including that.
Next year's team goes 17-12 .... Time for change. This year with the rebuilding and the injuries. Hardly. I know that is incendiary anger producing commentary...just have to live with it.

Whitey has not only agreed, but will be on the show to explain the origins of the "report card". I have put it below, so that you guys can give feedback as to your grades for the coach. You can also call the show tonight with your conclusions at (901) 475-9355.
The show will be live beginning at 8pm on wkbl1250.com/listen-live . I look forward to hearing from you guys!
For each of the nine categories, assign Josh a grade of “A” through “F”, with “A” being the highest possible. You can give + or – grades such as a C-.

Silly survey. As far as running the program, I have no issues with JP. I don't care if recruits decided to leave. None that have made that decision have proven themselves at other schools. My issue with JP is his record against quality competition, which include the NCAA's, how unorganized our team can play at times , lack of fundamentals and lack of strategy to take advantage of our strengths.

I concur wholeheartedly with this TigerGG!!!.... but in my opinion, these are categories that are already exploited in many posts where we are labeled as p_ssing on Josh!!! These are just the facts but I will assure you that certain posters will dare to entertain this post because these are the criteria that Josh and ONLY josh can be graded upon.....This elimin8s the many scapegoats and variables that the "JP shampoo" users dare to address
FYI, these are not "facts". They are opinion. It's comical to imply JP has been a total failure. No one in their right mind would say JP has not done 'average/slightly below average' with his performance. But 'average' is not good enough for a program with Memphis's history, resources and expectations. We need a coach who can teach, manage a game, motivate and do all the things JP is good at.

There have been 2 recruits recently he has missed out on that could have helped this year- Chioza at Florida and especially Cameron Payne at Murray St. (That guy can play) But the rest of what you said I concur..

I think JP would be a great college General Manager if one existed...
He gets the players, gets and keeps them qualified and someone else does the BASKETBALL stuff.

6. In game adaptability D
7. Selection of assistant coaches C+ (For every Luke Walton, there has been a Damon Stoudamire or Glenn Cyprien)
8. How does Josh conduct interviews? C- (constantly uses catch phrases, but is always upbeat)
9. Does Josh do a good job of selling the Memphis basketball program? A

Not great, but then again, not the debacle that others have predicted either. I swear if the guy could get a Stan Jones type guy as an assistant, he'd look like the next (insert successful coach here).

Pastner Report Card
1. Ability to motivate players - C
2. Recruiting – attracting top quality prospects, getting players enrolled and retaining recruits - A
3. Game planning - C
4. Play calling - C - hard to say on this one. A lot is up to the players to execute
5. Player execution of plays - C
6. In game adaptability - D-
7. Selection of assistant coaches - F
8. How does Josh conduct interviews? - F- if attitude was all the mattered he would be a solid B+, but because of his over abundance of meaningless platitudes and lack of substance he gets an F.
9. Does Josh do a good job of selling the Memphis basketball program? A - great ambassador
10. (Added by Chad) Player Development - C- Austin, DJ are players that could argue for pastner, but the list is longer for guys who didn't reach potential according to ratings. He's either not good at player development or very unlucky
