after I posted I scrolled down and the dress was dark blue and black for about 2 seconds and then reverted to gold and white...this is so weird.

Perhaps you should have read my post just above yours. Many posts were mentioning the differing colors and not directing to the one photo. The gif popped up and I responded. So yeah, I should have looked at the first picture and told all it was black light on a run way.

my perception of the color of the dress changed with the lighting in my room. Lights on...dress looks gold / white. lights off it is without question black /blue.

Im significantly colorblind and could tell it was white and gold easily.

My kid and I looked at exactly the same photos from multiple sites. I saw white and gold. She saw black and blue

In a pitch black room, make this video full screen, turn up the brightness as high as possible and then stare at it for several minutes without blinking & then tell me what you see.

I saw a segment on the news last night. The real dress is black and blue. The use of shadows is what causes the optical illusion, b/c your brain automatically adjusts colors to compensate for the viewed object being in the shadows.

That what causes the dark colors to appear white and gold for many people. Your level of natural compensation is what determines whether you see black and blue, or white and gold..
