Interesting note this year. Since they put the App/GS game on ESPNU the same week as the stAte/Cajun ESPN2 Tuesday game, it means all 4 teams will be off on Saturday the 24th. Usually the SBC does not do this because it's far from ideal for your 4 biggest attendance draws to all be idle the same week.

I had always assumed that's part of the reason that stAte or the Cajuns always had 2 Tuesday games each year, so the league wouldnt have so many teams on bye in a particular weekend. I guess that's not the case.

I'm fine with NOT playing on Tuesday, but the GS-App game will soon become the other "premier matchup" in SBC, if it isn't already. I can see Texas St replacing ULL as stAte's key opponent in the West as ULL fades back into obscurity and irrelevance.

What were the numbers last year for all SBC ESPN games? Keep in mind ESPN2 is in 85% of homes while The U is in under 70%.

Two years ago, our game with the Cajuns was the 3rd highest TV rating for a game involving 2 G5 teams.

Likely a perfect storm of only football game of TV and lack of other options contributed.

I know someone has the 2014 ratings lets see them or we can continue making assumptions either way.

Haha - bit early to be drunk on that backwoods, Georgia, lead poisoned moonshine, don't you think?

Txst is definately going to have to stop getting their teeth kicked in by us before they replace us in anything

Tx State is one of my favorite SBC programs - however I don't think that will be happening in the next 4 years - or before both schools are in CUSA.

stAte/Cajuns is more about the history between the schools than anything, Football teams do not like each other. We have no history with Texas State.

Texas State/stAte was the highest drawing ESPNU game last year. App/GS was 2nd. I think Troy/USA was last.

Texas State/Cajuns was highest Tuesday game last year primarily because the other Tuesday game went against Game 1 of the World Series. Problem was that the Bobcats had an empty stadium for both of their TV games, which did not make an impression on anyone.

I'm not gonna say a lot here, as you've got scoreboard the last two seasons . . . But don't get used to it. . . . . . .

185K was the Texas State/AState game. 156 Watched GS/App.

Arkstfan had a post where he outlined all of the ratings a while back. I'd have to look for it to get every number.

ULL Texas St was 30% higher than ULL Ark St. this year. I believe it has more to do with the options available than the teams playing.

however the Troy GS game was terrible.

The attendance for the Arkansas State game (12,264) was the worst since 2010 for a Texas State home game. I don't know if it was the 8:30 start, the weather, the fact that it was a weeknight game on ESPNU or the poor recent performances at home.

The Cajun game was decent attendance for a Tuesday night game (18,509). The crowd didn't have much to cheer about which didn't help. We have proven that we can draw for non-conference games. We had 33,006 for Texas Tech in 2012, 32,007 for Navy in 2014 and 22,150 for Wyoming in 2013. For Sun Belt games the attendance is just not the same. Maybe there is a bobcat fan on the board that can figure out why.

Maybe the difference in the TV ratings were all the Texas St. Fans that stayed home to watch.

To put it delicately: Our fans have no knowledge of 95% of the Sun Belt schools. Much like we hold no sway for USA/stAte/Georgia State/Troy/ULM/Etc when we go there, they bring nothing to us (I don't mean fans, I mean excitement from our own fans).

Cajuns are known to us primarily because of 2 years ago when we started hot, many eyes tuned in for that Cajun game (only to watch them stomp a mudhole in us and walk it dry).

Throw in that we had a couple of weekday games which have historically been horrible for us in attendance, and our conference attendance is in the crapper.

Yes, I believe there was a top 25 game at the same time as the Troy/GS game.

I recall that game well, though I don't know that I'd characterize it so harshly. I thought it was more of a "kicking your asses so hard that your noses bled" kinda of thing.

Anyway, it's developed into a really fine rivalry.
