Even if not a better/good conference, we will land in some conference. The better showing we have, the more likely we are to be a perennial host of whatever conference we are in.

Remember when all we had to do was
a. Improve on the field
b. Increase attendance
C. Show support
We'd get an OCS.
Seemed elementary at the time...didn't it?

If we win the tournament, and if we have to leave CUSA, we will be the third straight team to leave the conference immediately after winning the conference tourney.
2013 - Memphis
2014 - Tulsa
2015 - UAB???
That would be interesting and not look good for CUSA

Big, BIG difference between Memphis, Tulsa and UAB.
Memphis and Tulsa actually left because they were invited to another conference. We have to leave because our president cancelled a major sport that is required to stay in C-USA. Not an accurate comparison in the three.

thank you for pointing out the obvious. I didn't say that everyone left for the same reason and I wasn't comparing the reasons they left.
I simply pointed out a simple fact. If the two things I stated happen, then for three straight years, the tournament champion will leave the conference after winning the tournament. I was not saying they all left for the same reason.
If two people have a heart attack and die while standing in the middle of a road, and one person dies after being hit by a car, the reasons they died are different, but the fact remains that three people died while standing in that road.
But thank you very much for pointing that out. As always, your contributions are greatly appreciated.

It'd reflect poorly on C-USA regardless of the circumstances if they kept losing tournament winners, doubly so when the its trying to establish itself as more than a one bid conference. That said, I don't think attendance has any bearing on anything aside from being another test for seeing how a central site would work as opposed to a more basketball friendly place.
Just a little unlucky some of the closer teams are down.

It would be more like 3 people moved to that street. 2 were allowed to make investments and moved to a perceived better location. the other had to leave due to a sheisty landlord. That street is still seen as a stepping stone to move to better streets if you can make the right investments.

But the statement that three people moved from that street is still a factual statement....which was the point I was making.

It makes C-USA look like a stepping stone league. Good or bad, you move to C-USA to move up. I really hate we may have to leave and in the wrong way.

ALL non P5 conferences are "stepping stone" conferences. (The AAC may be considered as P4.5)
IF UAB must find a new conference home, we will find out how much the dominance of the system BOT hampers us in our quest. A conference could regard UAB as a liability because it is so tightly controlled by another school's administration (they might not need to see "the fingerprints on the weapon" like SACS). This will be our first time to try to move without the benefit of having Gene Bartow as our champion.

Don't blame me...I bought my tournament pass last week. I almost chose to sit out because of what that Watts did to the football program and the athletic department's silent acceptance of it all
but the best way to hurt that ******* is to show up for our team and our conference and turn it into another platform to send the FreeUAB message and have some fun and watch some damn good basketball while doing so. That's what I intend to do. Screw it! Screw Watts! Screw the BOT!

Showing up for our UAB team is a good thing. Showing up for a conference that may yet drop UAB like a hot potato is something else. Now if they say "We stand with UAB even without football" may just give it a different look. Otherwise we just have a reprieve until summer - perhaps while they shop our spot around to likely replacements.

You can't blame CUSA if they drop UAB. We broke their rules, not the other way around. If they want to be an all sports league, Watts took UAB out of the equation. They are perfectly within their right to enforce their rules. Frankly, if I was Charlotte and Saint Louis, I would be pissed if they let UAB stay without football, since CUSA kicked those schools out at one point.
I agree with you regarding their "rights" to expel UAB, but I was saying how a UAB fan might react to the request for "loyalty" from C-USA.
Regarding Watts and what he knew of C-USA bylaws, I would not be surprised if he knew nothing about the one regarding football. His early quotes indicate that he was not knowledgeable of that bylaw. I would suspect the members of the BOT were fully aware since Bama has been active in interscholastic sports for a long time. They may have known and were in no hurry to inform him since he might balk at following their plans if he knew. Once he pulled the trigger in Dec., he was along for the ride no matter where it may go and end up.

I bet we sold some tournament tickets this afternoon. Oh, they may not have been purchased yet, but this team is something special.
