I think he's being kind, but if we do somehow manage to win out, who knows?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything from this team in a month that leads me to believe that we can do that.

RE: Bubble Watch
We have to win out to be on the bubble. I wouldn't predict it with how we are playing, but our toughest games remaining are home and the two road games are winnable.

our at-large chances have been long gone for a while and this more or less proves it.

"In the meantime, we wave farewell to Old Dominion. It's hardly the Monarchs' fault. After all, they were on the page Tuesday, and they won at Rice this week. But the rest of the bubble is making moves. Old Dominion is stuck playing C-USA bottom-feeders the rest of the way. If the Monarchs were better than 10-5 in that league, we'd feel a lot worse about leaving them behind. There may be a move left in them yet. But for now, earning the automatic bid seems like the likeliest path of egress. "

By my count, we were 4-0 vs. teams listed in his bracket. Those bad losses were a shame.

On a better note, I think we need to root hard for LSU because he has them pretty squarely in the field (10 seed) so they don't appear to be competitors on the bubble. They still play Arkansas on the road. A win there and a run in the SEC tournament and that win could keep looking better for us. As most have said, the chances are slim, but there is a chance. I'll be channeling Lloyd Christmas the next couple of weeks.

Can't really argue with any of that. We know what we need to do to get back in the picture.

RE: Bubble Watch
If we win the next 3, our numbers will look much better (according to RPI Forecast). I don't think they'll leave us out with an RPI in the low 30s plus our resume. The UTSA loss stung, but we lost to JMU in 2007 and they were much worse.

Correct, JMU had an RPI in the 300's that year if I recall correctly.

Each year is different, and this year the bubble is weak. VCU got in as the 4th place team in CAA losing to us in the semi.

Correct. Provided we continue our win streak into the conference tournament, I like this resume better than 07's. What saved us in 07 was we went on a long win streak before the CAAT. We need to do the same this year. One game at a time. We are currently out, but we can play our way back in IMO. If we win to the semis, that is a 7 game streak. 8 game streak if we in to the finals. Granted, our streak was 12 games in 07 before getting throttled by GMU in the CAAT semis.

That 07 Team also went on the road and picked-up a resume building win over Georgetown. I quote: "Old Dominion became the latest CAA team to knock off a Top 10 opponent - beating Georgetown in a building where the Hoyas hadn't lost in 24 years."

We would be a lock had we won a true road game that meant something. Beating LSU on a neutral floor is the closest thing.

for opinions sake, would you rather make the ncaa tourny(most likely lose in the second/third round) or win the nit? talk amongst yourselves.

I'll take the NCAA tourney every time.
