NCAA any day

1st round loss is better than an NIT run

Its a lot more than just UTSA. MTSU is almost just as bad, and UAB isn't pretty either. Some of us like to pretend that those teams are pretty good, but that just isn't the case, and it is making things difficult on us. That said, I think if we win out to the championship we have a pretty decent shot. But nothing short of that will get us in.

The good news is that the team seems to have woken from their long winter's nap.

There's so much interplay between these teams, now and in the conference tournaments that I haven't ditched any idea of an at large. Just by looking at this list you can see how many of the teams ahead of us can fall out of favor.

This is true. Winning out and getting to the tourney final doesn't seem like so much of a stretch all of a sudden.

I wouldn't consider losses @122, @167 (according to KenPom) all that terrible. The one to UTSA is certainly not great. Just to pick a couple teams that we beat that have at large chances:

VCU lost @134, @106
LSU lost @185, @163, @155

Maybe we are not as far outside the bubble as I thought. This guy has us as one of the last four out. Maybe there is still hope. Just win baby!

I'd rather make 1 NCAA tournament than win 5 NITs.

Someone go ahead and post that tallest midget photo from the other thread... That's the NIT champion.

I would take the NIT, if offered. Considering that almost all the games are on ESPN it wouldn't be a bad way to end the season. Getting the ODU name out there

Two sites that do NIT bracketology have ODU a 3 seed and a 5 seed. If we don't make it to the Big Dance I'm all for the guys getting to play on! As a 3 seed we'd have a few home games.

As of now, like all ODU fans I hold out hope for an NCAA berth. That said, if the Monarchs make the NIT field instead, they will have my full support. Of course anyone would choose the big dance over the NIT, but IMO even an NIT spot would be at least equal to what many of us had projected before the season. The program's resurgence is still ahead of schedule.

Has anyone said we wouldn't support them in the NIT? Has anyone said we shouldn't accept an NIT invitation?
