Has your school sent complaints to ESPN about their broadcasters butchering your teams name and mascot. I have heard Eastern Carilina in football and the announcer tonight called you Panthers.

Think about our fan base for a second.... I'm sure they get a bunch of complains every time they call us Eastern.

I always assumed we weren't the only school with this problem...

Believe it or not, that's probably the fourth or fifth game I've heard that we've been called the panthers since I was a freshman (6 years ago).

I know they have.

We've sent in complaints about them labeling us as E. Carolina instead of ECU as we prefer to be called. They don't care!

They just say
"Oh those Patriot hicks from Eastern South Carolina again, just send it to spam"

I can understand a little bit in basketball about being unfamiliar, but football is the worst. We've been a known entity for decades in football.

It's almost like it's done on purpose. Without fail at least 4-5 times a year someone will say eastern, or last night screw up Pirates. How the hell do you do that sitting in front of 7000 fans inside a small arena with "Pirates" splashed all over it including a giant ass skull and crossbones on the center of the court?

There is no other "East" moniker on a D1 school, it shouldn't be hard to remember.

I was more pissed off the game went off the air on ESPNU. WTF is this? Amateur hour?

We spent $500,000 on a rebrand project that was supposed to eliminate them calling us Eastern as well as have us appear as "ECU" instead of "E Car" or "E. Carolina" on the score board. Money well spent

The broadcasters are idiots. During the UConn-UCF basketball game on CBSSN, they kept calling UConn "UCF" and UCF "UConn". Is it that confusing to them since both schools use a "U" at the start of their branded names?

It's not just ECU. Second game in a row a graphic didn't have simple spell/fact checks. Last night opening lineups had Marquel Curtis playing for both Tulsa and Tulane, game before included "Miama" on Haith's resume. They had to correct players names over and over last night.

Total bush league.

Haha I think the Panther guy realized his mistake halfway through but just kept going with it instead of stumbling over his words. He said pirates twice within a couple minutes.

Panthers was an honest slip I believe. I mean we have the Carolina Panthers here so...

The Eastern thing has got to go though. It happens way too often. As silly as this will sound, I almost think some of them are intentionally trolling.

You can't expect perfection. I mean the people that make these graphics are human after all. Hell, this is what happened at Syracuse. This is a major fubar....

I am honestly fine/like E. Carolina. Especially when they do N. Carolina and S. Carolina as well.
