RE: Rice Thread
Granted, I'm an optimist, but I think we're going to be just fine. Had we just dropped two at home, I'd be more worried.
I'd much rather us have a swoon right now than 2 or 3 weeks from now.

Washington was 0 for 2 also. Big difference from the La Tech game a few weeks back.
Guard play overall hurt us. Brown was good as usual. Washington wasn't needed. There was no way Haase was playing Washington with Lee and Mehinti cleaning the glass. They were 12/17, 31 points with 18 rebounds.

That's pretty much how I feel.
Losing sucks, but every game, win or lose, is an important lesson for these guys. I hate for their confidence to be shaken as we draw closer to the tournament, but they bounced back before after that tough stretch in the first half of the season and they can do it again.
I'm not down on coach or the guys. I admit I thought the play would become cleaner as time passed, but a lot of the turnovers and what have you can be chalked up to being a really young team.
Right now, they just need to finish strong and secure a bye.

Norton had turnover to end regulation. UAB had 3 straight turnovers before Madison hit 1of 2 fts to end 1st overtime.

So to sum up: For our basketball team, Texas sucks. And Ruston is not so good either.

Remember what I said about tanking. He's got to be a leader and help this team get ready for Thursday.
Yep. Take away what we can from this game, and get ready for the next one. It's very important that we stop this skid Thursday. We have still had a chance to win every conference game this season.
I was unable to listen. What happened for coach Haase to say this ?

RE: Rice Thread
He was talking with David about blowing the lead in OT. He said that it hurt him because he felt he didn't do everything he could to help the guys win at the end. And then he dropped that line.
Even as a player, Haase was one of the most emotional (Roy says he would often cry after losses like these). And he's that way as a coach too, which can be a good thing. I want him to channel his passion and competitive spirit back into getting a win Thursday.
No matter what, Haase never is one to make excuses or take a loss lightly. If any of you are thinking this loss hurts you worse than Haase and that locker room, I have less confidence in you than Ray Watts.

RE: Rice Thread
Really really disappointing two losses on the road.. One I could deal with, but it's hard to swallow two losses to two bad teams. Especially considering we blew a 12 point lead against UNT and had a 7 point lead in OT against rice. I hope that two tough losses wont destroy the young teams confidence and start a downward spiral to end the year. We've shown we don't play well when we are getting Some good pub, so how will we do with a losing streak to two subpar teams? I hope we arent heading for an implosion at the end of the year like we did last season (although that implosion certainly began earlier than 11 games into the cusa season).. Huge game on Wednesday..

RE: Rice Thread
We blew a 7 point lead with under a minute to play in OT... That's just really sad. How do you let that happen? I guess it was just another unrealistic expectation for this team to win this game.
I hope we can get things turned around by Thursday.

Definitely not unrealistic. We should've gone 1-1 at worst on this road trip. We should be past losing to sub par opponents in this manner at this point in the season. However, the bigger picture is still bright. We are still in good shape for a 3/4 seed In the tourney. We could easily win the tourney in our back yard. That being said, we need to snap out of this slump immediately or all the new Haase bandwagoners, including myself, will start getting nervous soon.

Yeah I was just being sarcastic, I'm sure Memphis Blazer thinks that our expectations are unrealistic for this team. But anyways I hope we can get it together, and start playing better basketball. We have known since November that winning the CUSA tourney would be our only hopes. A solid win Thursday would be a nice confidence booster. But you better believe WKU will be fired up after back to back losses also. Should be a dog fight. We have a lot to work on until then.

2-0 actually
I wanted to see us win out on the road. Maybe drop one at home. Our guard play is lacking and we are stacked at that spot when we probably only need six guards.

Baxter, Norton, and Watts were a combined 2-21 from the field and 10 turnovers. That was "HORRIBLE".

We may be technically stacked at guard, but in truth we only have 2 guys on the team who can dribble under pressure : Norton and Baxter. When they are not on their game, we are very subject to wilting under late game pressure, which is why we have lost 4 conference games this year.
