“Interlocutory” And “Polygamous"?????

I had to type in my home address no less than three times. (Can we all agree that any computer programmer who creates such an illogical and repetitive form should be banished to the computer programmer equivalent of Gitmo — perhaps an endless loop of Disney’s “It’s a Small World” ride with only a dial-up modem?)

In addition to the repetitive requests for my address and phone number(s!!) were more intrusive demographic questions, including an inquisition about my race and ethnic background.

And right there on the very first screen was a mini-interrogation about the intimate details of my marital status. Am I married? Divorced? Widowed? Never Married? Interlocutory?

Interlocutory is a legal term ... it is sort of a "draft" legal decision. You could have a interlocutory divorce, for instance. I don't understand why polygamy is shocking either. You have heard of mormons right?

For eyeglasses or contacts, who the hell cares who licks who or where the sausage is hidden? There is nothing medically necessary in this "screening" protocol.

Guys, this looks like some sort of legally driven form designed to figure out who to call if something goes wrong in the test.

Couldn't they just have a line that says "Emergency Contact?" I don't understand why they care what your status is in that area anyways.

Who puts their ex-wife down as an emergency contact? If you by some chance do, they don't really need to know what her relationship to you is, just her name and number.

As someone who has done some data mining professionally, a big pet peeve of mine is fields with an excessive number of options. They always end up merged into more general categories because you will have some choices that no on picked or make up less than 5 people out of many thousands.

Doesn't matter though, because I probably won't have to do any work for them.

Yep. Hell, I don't even know why divorced is on there. If you're divorced, you're single. If you're widowed, you're single. If you're separated from your husband or wife, you're still married. So there should be two choices. Married or Snigle.

This statement is pure genius. It's so simple it's perfect and taht's probably why these people don't like it.

Now I'm imagining that there is some sort of legal issue when you're asked if you're divorced because your ex is still on your life insurance policy if you die - maybe. But here is my question:

If a person gets divorced and remarries, is he married or divorced? If the proper anwer is married then there was never a need to have a divorced category.
