With all of the reports about Watts and the BOT obviously lying.......
It just seems as if they are going to get away with it. This is what is so frustrating to me.

They aren't getting away with it. It may not look it at the moment, but something is happening. Why did Espy fly off the handle about the Board not needing restructuring yesterday?

Not without a fight they won't. They do hold many advantages, which is why we have to fight so hard.

But this pic might encourage you a little. This is a type of single-edged sword known in Old English as a Sacs (as in, Saxon). It fell out of use in battle but remained as a headsman's blade, used to execute criminals.

In our case, the Sacs has yet to fall.

One reason is because he is a prick.
Another reason is because he is feeling the heat.

& keep in mind that there is no way in hell that Watts will ever be able to hand out another diploma. In fact, I suspect the students can force the issue enough to where he will never attend another graduation ceremony.

When your president can't do that, it seems like he isn't a true president.

There is a little more to it than that. Why did he say the "Board's structure serves the state well?"

Whatever Espy thinks he is whether it be a God, simple man, or King he is a Trustee trusted with the health and well being of ALL THE CAMPUSES. 58-56 knows what they fear. Whatever our politicians may be they are not going to risk the accreditation of a large state university.

Watts should not be President right now under normal circumstances. I agree. But, UAB is not under normal circumstances would you agree? Watts has promised a committee to look at the football issue and if he meddles well that would be against the rules of SACS.

RE: With all of the reports about the Watts and the BOT obviously lying.......
You know they are feeling it. Watts decision to re-examine things probably wasn't his decision either. This is all driven by the BOT and PR folks. They are trying to placate just enough to make it seem like they care. Then they make probably what is the first-ever commercial about the UA System so that they can again try to show how much they care about UAB.

Not only do they feel the heat, I think they know their world could be about to change. That's the only reason they are taking the unprecedented action of actually confronting the issue rather than the typical BOT act which is to ignore everything.

Neither Watts nor the BOT can interfere with the football committee. SACS is watching this.

And if he doesn't heed their recommendations there ain't no telling what some of us hot heads will do.

True, but there are many other SACS violations already committed.

This is revolution, not reform. It's well past time for "the ways things have always been done" to become "the way things used to be."

Alabama needs its colleges and universities run by accountable, transparent agencies. Like, where does all that "profit" from Crimson Tide football go, anyway?

Alabama needs recall provisions for office holders. Dr. Dr. Robert Bentley has failed to uphold his oath of office. He should be in peril of losing his.

Alabama needs an initiative-referendum procedure as so many other states have. The people should not be at the mercy of well-financed lobbyists when they wish to see their will exercised.

Once, we were merely sports fans. Ray Watts and Paul Bryant turned us into revolutionaries.

If Watts does not follow the recommendations of the committee, then he will be removed.

There are a litany of violations with SACS here. I meant to say if he interferes then it will be yet another violation of SACS.

Revolution is happening, but they don't happen quickly. There is time where all Revolutionaries ask themselves "have we really accomplished anything?" as the wheels turn slower than we would like.

I can't agree more. Standing in the Alumni House Friday, they looked at all of us and tried to make us believe we weren't worthy of being in the same room.

Anjali Wagle pulled no punches; she called out the Board on the stigma attached to UAB. A commuter campus. An "urban" university. Many of us came from the lower income brackets. We're being told that we're second-class citizens.

The world is changing as the ideology of this Board remains static. Not only can African-Americans be students at UA, they can also play sports there too! (although they still can't be a head football coach there; UAB hired the first minority FBS head coach in state history). Monday, same-sex marriages will be performed in Alabama.

Meanwhile, whilst the revolution is afoot, the old guard is dug in, and they're being made extremely uncomfortable by our movement. Time to prepare for the next round of the battle. We must lead this state forward and make our region progress.

We need to keep in mind that the SACS process is a very slow grinding wheel. It will probably be many months before the results of SACS inquiries are known and even then there is no guarantee that they will "find" any wrong doing.

The battle in Montgomery will be long over for better or worse before any SACS rulings come down. This is where we must put all of our efforts.

Having said that there will probably be an exit interview with administration when they're done. Administration will have a clear indication which way the wind is blowing

As long as we have a spy in the room, I'm good with that.

RE: With all of the reports about Watts and the BOT obviously lying.......
My suspicion is that the SACS process is enough of a hammer that the trustees may try to throw us a bone to get through it. The "review" of the football decision could be an excuse to give us football to get SACS and everyone else off their back so they can continue to loot the University system. They will eventually throw Watts overboard for the same purpose.

We cannot allow this fight to be about Watts or football. I have a suspicion this may be part of why Mr. Hire suggested letting go of the anger. It's perhaps more accurate to let go of the rage and let cold hard anger focus us on the greater task-showing these weasels the door.

I love football, but I'll gladly give up football for a free UAB and UAH

Amen to all, linus. Restoring football for 2016 is great, but what happens if there's no board reform? We're left simply waiting for the next screwjob.

I agree. What is the use of having football with these same damn fools in charge? They will never let football reach its full potential. We have got to cut cords with these azz clowns in Tuscaloosa and go with DirectUAB.
