MyBB Here comes the small ball
With Austin out, Josh is going to get to do what he loves, play 3 guards. Markel will be playing the 3 a lot while AN is sidelined.

To me, it would make more sense to get Nick King more minutes (I seriously don't understand what is going on with Nick).

We are going to roll out Tuesday night against ECU with a starting line up of Kedren, Woodson, Markel, Shaq and Godfrey; and we are going to get pounded.

An ugly season is about to get a lot uglier.

Nick was injured during the game as well

It's very fortunate that we have the two teams coming up that we do. We should still be able to handle them even without our best player.

And lots of teams play small ball. We're not alone in that. Almost all the rest do it, however, due to lack of options.

I will be very surprised if we are favored at ECU.

As ugly as it's been, it's about to be off the charts. Offensively anemic all along, without AN, we may score in single digits in a half.

I bet Austin isn't out 2 weeks...I agree with you guys, but I bet AN comes back sooner.

If it's a severe sprain he will not be 100% for the rest if the year. 80% at best if he stays off of it for the full 2 maybe even 3 weeks.

What little chance we had remaining to salvage anything out if this season is gone.

With Nichols and King out that may be our best five. We'll need Burrell to backup the 4/5. We're going to be awfully small now.

Bench of Pookie, Cunningham, Burrell.

We've lost this year:
Injury for year: Hawkins
Injury for spurts (current): King, Nichols
Transfer: Magee, Iverson

That's how a deep team loses depth. Injuries and defections. Bummer.

If we don't get back Nichols or King asap, the NIT isn't happening either.

If it might cause structural damage by coming back early. I want him sitting. The team will have salvage the season without him until the AAC tourney.

All that's left is Hartford. Everything else is for getting experience for next year now :(

ECU is most improved team in the league over past 6-8 games. I would be surprised we win unless we out rebound them and shoot 50 percent. You know our D efficiency is going to go down quickly. No rim protector.

We would have gotten a nice bump from beating Temple. Now the only way we get in is by winning the tournament. We might as well let players play through mistakes, especially Pookie.

Yep, just let it happen. We got to figure out what we have for next year, this is all team building for 15-16 now. Pookie and Markel need all of the minutes they can get.

Winning the tournament is and was the only way we could get in. Nothing changed by not beating temple.

I'm sure King is a great kid and he does work his rear off, but he is just a classic tweener without a position to call his. Too small at the 4 unless we're playing a Christian Bros, not a slasher, no handles and too inconsistent from perimeter to play the 3. Call him a stretch 4 if you like, doesn't change a thing... I don't see what's so hard to figure out there.

And Johnson should be playing in a Mens over 40 league. You can't press effectively with him on the floor, can't play truly effective man defense, slows us in transition both ends and can't shoot a lick. He does make a nice pass every now and then, but is much more a liability while on the floor. This isn't Tiger Basketball by any stretch, but obviously a lot of it could be fixed with a pure and quality PG. jmho.

So now going smaller when your biggest player is injured is somehow....

Good grief.

For the life of me I cant understand how Pastner rotates his point gaurds. Cunningham shouldnt even be playing. Kedren still looks out of shape and not quick at all and Pookie goes from starting to the last gaurd off the bench.
