RE: Recruits know the pecking order.
I've seen ECU basketball on ESPN more this year than I have seen them on TV my entire life and I'm 52 years old. The exposure is great for our programs even if ESPN is an evil empire.

The ESPN deal sure has been a sweet step up from CUSA. I can see how that's a benefit across multiple sports.
Coach Fuente said having every game on ESPN has helped us.

I'm interested to see how Charlotte in ODU perform over the next 10 years. The NC/VA areas are good for college fan support. These two programs might grow into AAC teams if we ever need them in the future with alignment.

The gap is so huge though from the American and CUSA. Might bees to call it the Group of 4 and the American as a tweener
You can't tell these delusional fan bases anything of this sort, they will not understand. Nobody in that conference has ever done anything of merit except ride off the coattails of the schools in the AAC. After we dumped the dead weight, they still want to act like it is some kind of competition. There is no competition and there never will be. It is like comparing the Seahawks to your local junior high team. Why can't the other conferences do the right thing and drop down a level so there can only be six real conferences, kind of like it really is now except having to split the loot with the likes of Southern Miss and South Alabama and all those scrubs.

You're joking, right? We at Tulane are one year removed from CUSA. We went 3-9 in our first year in the AAC (with one win against an FBS opponent). How on God's earth can you justify any criticism towards other G5 conferences & teams. As a program & as a fan base we need to focus on putting up wins and shutting our mouths.

The bottom line is we got called up for a reason, not Marshall, not Southern Miss, not any of them. Let's face it, If the Big 12 comes calling then we will be on the top of that list too. Our fans need to start thinking big time, we are not a pushover by any means. In this new age of college athletics, wins and losses are the last thing people care about. It is about markets and television sets. Ask Southern Miss how all those wins worked out for them, it means absolutely nothing. We are up here and they are way down at the bottom where they belong. Good riddance and I can't wait for next season.

I don't care too much about recruiting ranking and stars. Super Bowl had zero ex 5 star recruits on either roster. We've had some really great teams and no 5 star players. Stars sometimes mean the guys peaked and hit his ceiling in high school and /or is committed to an elite program and elevated to 5 star based on the schools rep. IMHO

ODU could but I doubt that UNCC ever will. UNCC has way too much local competition. Charlotte is literally saturated with ACC and SEC college sports fans. Throw in the Panthers, Hornets and even NASCAR and they're way down the list in terms of entertainment options. ODU practically has a monopoly in their town unless you count the VT and UVA but they're several hours away.

They get plenty of local $$$ support from businesses but it is still viewed as a commuter school. Not much of a campus life that creates a football atmosphere. As you also stated they are competing with pro teams and most locals leave area for college (so not fans of UNCC).

TV Markets (and/or lack of markets) will generally always play a role (large or small) in expansion decisions.
Both Charlotte (#24) and Norfolk (#42) are Top 50 US Markets.
ODU (1930) is a slightly older public univ than UNCC (1946).
Both schools have good size undergrad enrollment:
ODU: 19,000
UNCC: 27,000
Both of their alumni bodies are going at a pretty good rate (most obviously graduated before the school's current teams started up I-A Football).
A much more regional CUSA Conf is probably a good home for both...maybe for a long, long time.

It's inaccurate because 247 and other sites added the preferred walkons into our class rankings. Also some people will always view Memphis beneath them. We just have to keep on winning!

I doubt ECU would be on board for ODU in the AAC we recruit that area pretty heavily. We helped push for them in cusa after everybody left because it was figured if we couldn't play decent schools in conference we might as well try to get local interest type of games. ECU support for ODU is basically admitting a conference isn't going anywhere. Not because ODU couldn't make it anywhere but because it undermines our competitiveness overall.

I'm not sure who we would backfill with at this point, if it came to that. But considering we all know UConn isn't going anywhere but to the B1G, and no one else is going anywhere but the BXII (and neither of those conferences are budging) we don't really have to worry about it for some time.
Expansion would be the only scenario in which teams were added and that is only happening for Army, BYU, and AFA.

Doubt Army will ever join a football conf again...as even with easy schedules, they will almost never go bowling.
Also doubt Air Force will ever leave the MWC...as they are a good fit in that all-sports conf.
Now that ACC made up a rule that they consider BYU a P5 member...BYU will have easier times filling their 12 game non-conf schedule...so BYU will probably stay independent for a long time.
Which, if teams like UCF, Cinci and/or USF move on to P5 conferences...teams like UNCC, ODU, etc...will probably be looked at closely in another 5 years or so...as their location and even hoop programs will probably give them the edge over teams like Marshall, USM, etc...

10. Memphis 79.03
11. Tulsa 78.71
For some insane reason I knew if I kept reading that someone would have Memphis near the bottom and lo and behold.....
It's inaccurate because 247 and other sites added the preferred walkons into our class rankings. Also some people will always view Memphis beneath them. We just have to keep on winning!
What a weirdly personal way to take this comment. You're not even last, and it's not like the original poster made up some bullsh*t rules that made you guys artificially look worse than you do, they just posted the class by the average player ranking which is perfectly reasonable.
You guys have a good squad and are building on your success, stop fighting imaginary demons.
