That's almost as badass as reading books to kindergartners during 9/11 and hiding in a bunker directly afterwards.

It beats reading about it in the newspaper 3 days later.

lol that's one hell of a stretch.

Right...and what do you call the other idiotic attempts at humor and blatant dismissal of reality on this thread? You must endorse them since you chose not to comment on them.

What are you talking about?

Heard on the way in that the King hadn't actually personally bombed anything yet. Just stating what I heard. Carry on.

He's probably talking about that picture of obama in the skinny jeans that are flooding and his noodle arms.

King Abdullah was an extra on Star Trek-Next Gen at one point (obviously before he was King).

I'm glad a country in the region is finally footing some of the price for the war.

RE: Jordan's King Personally Bombing ISIS
Kudos to Jordan for showing some resolve, but in all honesty, if they are not sending troops on the ground, I can't view them as any more serious about backing up their rhetoric than Obama is. Obama was full of strong words and little will to follow them up with a strategy that has any reasonable chance of backing them up. The only ground troops to have participated are Kurds, and Peshmerga that came from Iraq to liberate the ghost town of Kobbani, which is the only substantial success that anyone has really had against ISIS.

There is talk of the US supporting the "moderate" Syrian opposition and training them in Jordan. But, what will likely happen is that if they are trained and armed, then the Syrian government and Hezbollah will probably take them on. Assad's strategy has been to make the US choose between fighting him or fighting ISIS. The US, in response (and after Assad violated red-line after red-line) has been to all but throw US support behind the legitimacy of Assad's government. I suspect that will, in fact, be part of a deal with Iran if a deal were to ever materialize.

Frankly, I'm glad that Obama did not make the same kind of speeches that King Abdullah ... the more that Obama decides to STFU, the better, because he just makes himself look like a clown when he makes empty threats about red lines and promises to destroy a group that he really has no intention of taking on.

To be fair to Jordan they essentially do no have much of an offensive capability. They have designed their military around the defense of their country due to where they are located in the world.

If so, it's probably a strategic mistake. Most of the countries in the Arabian Peninsula have militaries designed to control their own people. But, you're right that their offensive capability is probably nil.

Agreed, Jordan's entirely military is pretty much predicated on their use of fighter jets...

True, but not as badass as openly criticizing Christians for their actions centuries ago, while failing to recognize the religion of his father as the group committing atrocities in current times.

Eh...maybe, but when you look at who surrounds them it's probably a good decision to appear a tough nut to crack yet not a threat.

I was being somewhat facetious. But I don't see any country really knocking at the door to invade Jordan. I think that Jordan participated in the first couple of rounds of Arab v. Israel wars, but by the Yom Kippur war, King Hussein warned the Israelis that the Arabs were about to start a war. If the government of Jordan faces a genuine threat (even ISIS), it would be from within.

That's idiotic.

If a "Christian" shouts "An eye for an eye" and kills an abortion doctor, that doesn't mean Christianity committed an atrocity. It means he perverted his religion on purpose to justify his actions.

You just look like sorta foolish when you conveniently ignore the fact that America and Congress doesn't want to authorize Obama to start a war over there even if he wanted to. So you obfuscate reality in making your comment.

Obama has addressed this ad naseum, that he doesn't feel these people are true Muslims. And Muslim leaders keep telling you this as well.

It is obvious that you completely consumed the Kool Aid. You don't understand the true Islam, but you continue to give your dear leader a pass on it.

Again, he calls out Christian violence from centuries ago, but doesn't admit that the people committing mass murder today are Muslim.
