That's cool, but their chosen metrics have led to some odd results.

Hmmm... they separated Dallas and Fort Worth. If they're gonna do that Dallas should be completely off the list. There's not a single pro or college football team which exists within Dallas city limits.

RE: Top cities in USA for college football
So you're choosing the best cities for college football and basing it off of whether there are multiple sports teams in the town, the average ticket prices, and the number of sports bars. Yeah, that makes sense.

Methodology

In order to identify the best and worst cities for football fans, WalletHub analyzed 142 of the largest U.S. cities based on 11 key metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. For our sample, we chose cities with at least one college or professional football team.

Number of NFL & College Football (FBS) Teams: 1
Performance Quality of Teams (No. of Wins/Total Games Played): 2
Note: Past three seasons’ averages for NFL and NCAA Division 1 FBS teams was used for this calculation.
Average Ticket Price for an NFL Game & Minimum Season Ticket Price for a College Football (FBS) Game: 2
Stadium Accessibility (City Population/Stadium Capacity): 0.5
Number of Championships Won: 1
Number of Division Championships Won: 0.5
Number of Sports Bars per Capita: 0.5
Fan Friendliness and Engagement per Capita (Number of Twitter Followers + Number of Facebook Likes): 1
Franchise Value (Team Estimated Value in $Million): 0.5
Note: For NFL teams only
Attendance (Average Home-Fan Attendance/Arena Capacity): 0.5
Note: For NFL teams only
Viewership Rankings (Percentage of Adults in Team's Market Who Have Watched, Listened to or Attended a Game in the Past 12 Months): 0.5
Note: For NFL teams only

Multiple sports teams are not part of the methodology- multiple football teams are. Sports bars are worth including since having a choice where watch the local team(s) when they are on the road is important to many football fans. Like other best ratings, this one is somewhat subjective. One last thing, this list isn't rating the best college football cities, but the best football cities. At least it is a good off season topic.

And we know Atlanta's No. 12 because it's home to Ga. State, right? Right?

I'm kidding. I'm not obsessed with Ga. State. I just can't pass up the obvious bad joke. Sorry.

Including NFL stats doesn't make any sense to me. IMO it ruins the ratings.

Of the current makeup of the SBC there are a couple places I'd like to go for game day.

I like Boone, and think that would be a great place to see a game, and for some reason, San Marcos interest me.
