It's also The State Up North (TSUN), but I don't see that as derogatory. It's just a subtle poke without being mean (like calling Ohio State, Ohio).

We call Ohio State "That School Up North," but that's more to bug them because that's what they call Michigan.

My wife (Rose Hullman grad) has a shirt that says "friends don't let friends go to Purdue."

Indiana and Rose students will refer to "Purdon't"

In the Purdue band, someone will ask "what time is it?" And the response is, "It's ___ o'clock, and Indiana still sucks."

Right, just Northwestern. There is a longer version, but every time Iowa would lose to Northwestern, the reaction on the Iowa message boards would be like, how did we lose to them? They are just Northwestern? Then Iowa would lose again, and be like, well we lost to jNW again.

Just an FYI - Although Iowa State being called the clowns is mostly a play on the name cyclones, you have to admit their uniforms look a lot like Ronald McDonald's outfit.
