I disagree small arenas prevent a program from growing. If and when UC has a great years of championships and NCAA Final4 they will then talk about having more seats. I say build with that expectation.
You should read the history Ohio State stadium when they wanted to build a 60,000 seat stadium. There were many people just like you who said it was not needed. Will those folks were wrong. So UC needs leadership and create an expectation by building to that expectation. Other wise You won't grow an take the program where it needs to be.

Has it prevented Duke from growing, or UConn which plays half it's game in tiny Gampel (including games that would draw big numbers) from growing?

Notre Dame football has always had a smaller stadium. They had an expansion to grow from somewhere in the 60,000 range to the mid-80's but by then they were already a huge football brand with a huge following.

It helps that they are catholic, but what really helped is that they were a powerhouse for a long time with a unique national tv deal.

TV is becoming an even bigger driver of sports these days. I don't think kyucat's opinion is particularly accurate on this one.

RE: OT: Louisville reups with Adidas
Arena size doesn't mean a thing with respect to getting in to a major conference. This doesn't show arena size, but it does show average attendance for the P5 schools and the Big East (I ripped this off of another board). This is as of January 8, so the numbers are a bit dated. Regardless, they're relatively reflective of average annual attendance for the respective schools. If UC had a comfortable arena that held 10,500 (for argument sake) and filled it each game, they'd still be above the average attendance in each conference, with the exception of the B1G. It's all about eyeballs and perception, not arena size. For the record, we're just above 8,000 per game on the year, and that number should climb to nearly 9,000 with the teams left on the schedule. We ended last year at 8500, which was 53rd in the nation.

RE: OT: Louisville reups with Adidas
^ LOL at Washington State's attendance (1,956). I am guessing most of the CGL schools draw more than that. When you factor in their football program and their TV market the fact that they are getting $20M plus in a power conference and we are not is a freaking joke.

Also, just to show I am not a homer there are probably 10-12 other programs who "deserve" to be in the P5 over them.

I hope our attendance improves 8500 avg puts us in the lower half of B12, ACC, B10, and New BE. We barely make the top half of the SEC and are comfortable within the top 5 P12.

RE: OT: Louisville reups with Adidas
My apologies for clogging this thread, but here's another list. Top 100 schools in 2014 attendance. Bolded schools are non-P5. Bold and Italics are AAC. By my count, 8 P5 schools didn't even make it into the Top 100. My point with all of this - arena size just doesn't matter in the realignment game. That said, a 10,500 seat arena with better amenities and lines of site would do wonders for UC.

As a UC baseball fan, I am very happy we will be able to get decent equipment now. I am interested to see who they pick up as the baseball equipment sponsor. I would think Louisville Slugger would make a decent push being so close.

Sub, who currently sponsors the equipment for the baseball team?

I've been told some people weren't real happy with the Adidas football shoes. Thought they were too flexible and might have caused some injuries.

Why do the bats suck? Is it material, design or both? Does UA have better baseball stuff?

UA doesn't make baseball gear. They will have to go outside for that (which is actually a GREAT thing as it will allow a deal with someone like Louisville Slugger).

My understanding is that UA doesn't do baseball stuff, so it will allow UC baseball to pick a provider they deem best.

No idea why Adidas doesn't do well in baseball but I played baseball competitively growing up and never saw Adidas gear anywhere.

UA does cleats/batting gloves. I would imagine the team would use both of those.

IMO, small sweet spot. Not well weighted. Not as much pop as many of the BBCOR models out there. Not offered in enough specs to match different swing types.

For H.S. and above, they do not make the list when talking about quality bats. Go to a H.S. majors travel tourney where the kids have the best and you won't see one in any bat bag.

FWIW, a Doc I know who does legs and backs tells his patients, my sons being 2 of them, to steer clear of UA cleats. Says they look cool but the support is awful and causes issues.

I am so old that last time I picked up a bat it was a Mizuno, spell check. Are they still around.
