again, Gray, I think we've all said that the Saudi's are the one who gets the "credit" for that one. We've just got no clue if they went solo with this decision, or if it was a joint-national decision.

Hell, we may never know depending on how tight lipped things are.

This coming from the crowd that probably believe Reagan single-handedly tore down the wall. Priceless!

I think you might also need to list the policies that have made it go lower to be fair...Mach.

The fact is...NONE of the Mofos are that smart or affect things that much. They just happen to be in power when schit goes bad...and when schit goes good. In general? They have zero influence on the marketplace. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a dolt. The business cycle is the overwhelming cause of ups and downs. Whoever is in office gets the blame or take the credit. That is just the way it generally is.

Of course not...but...You will look foolish claiming that his policies were not a contributor.

I have no idea. I do know from that economists are reporting that China is in a slowdown and this is the main reason for the glut of oil. I can not respond to the Saudi's refusal to curb production. If the Obama administration is involved in this?...I will be the first to give them cudos.

gotta disagree with you regarding this in specifics.....

oil is easily manipulated by only a handful.....history shows how quickly the reaction is realized at the pump

this appears to be a power play influence coupled with other extrinsic factors.....

however, 'generally speaking', I would agree....

Not enough to have a material impact. We use 20 million barrels a day. 1 million hybrid cars (and we're not there yet) would reduce that by about 100,000/day.

Obama built a natural gas pipeline?

What limited new drilling? When? Where?

And what is the source of your quote.

Bloomberg Businessweek.

Just type in one sentence into google and you'll get the article. I just googled Obamas impact on oil prices and it was the second article.

Clash for clunkers helped and prodding the automakers into raising their fleet mpg helped too.

What helped was fracking and the Bakken--exactly the things that the "drill baby drill" people said would help. All those other things added together probably didn't have 1/10 the impact that fracking and the Bakken did.

I tend to agree. I am very skeptical that any of that had much impact. It is widely held that the slowing Chinese economy had as much to do with this as anything. I don't see anything on that list that contributed to that slowdown. Now if Obama somehow has somehow gotten the Saudi's to not slow production? THAT would be a hell of an accomplishment. I have not read or heard anything to substantiate that.

The drill baby drill people didn't win and we still developed North Dakota. So it goes to show you they were bunk. I'm going to enjoy my day but that would be an interesting topic for another day. How much less oil are we using. If these CNG cars take off in the words of Tony Soprano...

No.
