Auto-bids to P5 champs IS using the structure to produce the participants.

If there are any egregious omissions, use the remaining 3 at-large bids to fix it.

Guarantee a spot to the top G5 champ IF they are in the top 10 (I'll jump 2 P5 teams for the sake of avoiding the "good old boy" network, but there has to be a floor on it as well).

I'd stretch it to top 12, knowing that pollsters will always knock a G5 team down a few notches.

12 = fine w/ me

The comeback fell just short. The Rebs needed another 39 points for the tie.

No doubt they are on their way to the College Football Hall of Fame down the street so they can admire the legendary SEC players enshrined there...

Absolutely. And I'm sure the playoff committee members are well aware of that fact right now.

Except TCU is behind Baylor for claiming that #4 spot. So this game is meaningless in that regard.

It's not meaningless, many people thought TCU should be in front of Baylor too.

It's a joke that Ohio State jumped so high after beating a mediocre Wisconsin team. There is a reason that Vegas had TCU as a favorite over Ohio State.

Every Big 12 coach who voted in the coaches poll had TCU ahead. Oklahoma St.'s coach, who also played FSU, had TCU #1.

It isn't too surprising, the very best from the Big12, and playoff level team, versus the 5th best team in the SEC.

It was a pretty big mismatch. Ole Miss only got into this given their performance early in the season. Their season had been on a strong downward trend after the Auburn loss.

I still don't think the Committee went wrong though. Hindsight is always 20/20. If they had let TCU in they would have sent the message that not having a conference championship game is an advantage and then we would all be arguing something different entirely.

On the contrary. It joys me to say that the downward spiral began after the loss to LSU :D
