Never before in NIU football (going back to 1899) has NIU scored 50+ points in a game and then give up 50+ points in the next game. Just an observation.

Agreed. I think it was a great season. Marshall was good.

NIU will be stronger next year.
Marshall peaked this year.
Would be great to play them again next year.

We almost did it 2 times. UNLV(48 points) then Arkansas (52 points).

They've scored and given up 50+ in the SAME game before though.

RE: NIU first
My immediate reaction after the game was that we let up in the fourth quarter and Marshall did not. They really wanted to put it on us and we didn't match their will or desire in the fourth quarter. I thought we played really hard the three quarters but the TD early in the fourth really seem to deflate us. I'll watch the game again I'm sure but probably not for a few months.

I felt from the get-go , this team was defeated in that game, even after going up 7-0. Not just from the players, but that series of plays with Bouagnon, that was some scared coaching right there. It was one of those few times you will see an NIU team with their tail between their legs. Marshall was the better team, but NIU did fold. Doesn't take away from a big year as bowl games like this are usually quite meaningless. Just a little disappointed because I thought unlike most bowl games, this one maybe meant something.

What do you mean by "scared coaching"? They were in a bowl game as an 11-point dog. They had absolutely no reason to be scared.

RE: NIU first
It wasn't scared coaching. If anything it was a coach having too much faith in his offensive line being better than the opponent and being able the move them. It was the opposite of scared coaching.

RE: NIU first
It was a coach challenging his team. Unfortunately, they couldn't meet the challenge. Kudos to Marshall's D.
