RE: The Houston game
Any game is losable if an opponent goes Roburt-Sallie-versus-Cal-Northridge on 3-pointers, but the one ray of hope we have this year is near C-USA level performance by our conference so far (which, I guess, is not odd since 6 of our conference mates came directly from there and, now, we've devolved to that kind of "also ran" level.) We could still sneak in another conference championship if the ball bounces the right way even though we were originally looking like (and still could have) another middle of the pack finish like last year.

Just like a rising tide raises all ships, every other team sliding down the slope gives your team a better chance of being king of the hill. We'll see how it goes. That's why they play the games, I guess.

MEMPHIS can't do anything with the conference schedule, folks.

Tanya, I agree about the timing of the game on NY Eve, but again the AAC sets the schedule based on the ESPN assignment of games. Last year, the TIGERS played at USF on December 31.

I'll be at the Forum supporting the TIGERS with what I hope is a crowd of around 7500 on NY Eve day.

I'm self employed so I will be there. Husband has to work. Invited a GF to go with me.

Even being self-employed, all those Wed. night games were messing with my being able to get up and at 'em on Thursday mornings; hence, why I dropped my season tickets.

Darn, I hate it when work interferes with my real life. 03-hissyfit

Don't be a jerk, you know I didn't mean it like that. I am not the only one that has to work, most people do. Even if we're let go early, which we more than likely will be, not early enough to make the game.

Funny i was self employed for several decades and i found it means you have less free time. But i did not have an employed spouse to take up the slack.

Maybe, I would have to take a vacation day to make it and that's not an option for me right now. Burned a bunch of my vacation when my mother fractured her pelvis and only have 7 days left until June 1. Need to save those days in case my parents need me. Tough watching your aging parents go down. :(

Sorry, totally derailed my own thread.

It is tough to watch your parents get old.

Maybe you could offer to take your boss to the game as a late Christmas present? 04-rock

Both my wife and I, who are obviously older than you, have gone through it, as have many people.

Not sure how much this helps, but we were both glad that we were able to fulfill that obligation. They took care of us when we were little, and now it was our turn. It gave us some satisfaction to do that and, I think, some satisfaction to our parents that they had raised caring, loving children.

yeah, but you generally still have to take sick/vacation time for that. At least in the corporate world. Oh, and don't forget to bring in the note from your Dr. saying you could be contagious. You know how HR is these days and their pesky rules.

RE: The Houston game
Its not like this is a must-see game..

Houston's SOS is rated at 318 (played all bottom feeders apparently) and their record is still 7-4. Houston's RPI is 238 (UofM 139).

Houston's projected SOS is 133 so yea, they've played nobodys to date. Plus, they jack a lot of 3's (29 per game) and give up the ball just about as much as Memphis so this should be another pushover game....

I know that good forward they had, Thomas, transferred to Oklahoma and was granted immediate eligibility because Houston's coach was fired. He starts for OK, who is ranked 19th, so apparently he can play. I think I recall that 2 recruits decommitted too.

Not the point. If they are going to schedule games in the middle of a work day, stop bitching about attendance.
