Total BS. Some of us have been indicating that Powell is the freaking point guard and couldn't figure out how this coaching staff couldn't figure that out for themselves. I mean, they were starting Markel there who is a guy who has never ever played the position in his life. Now, since Powell is getting time, he's playing really well and has established that he indeed is the point guard.
Before he's done he's going to be really, really good fitting right in with the legacy of tremendous point guards here. He's ultra smooth and does many many things well. Vicious crossover and his defense is improving daily. Watch how fast he gets the offense into their set without over-dribbling.

Aren't you the guy that constantly derided the staff because we took Pookie over Chiozza? I'm not saying that was a good/bad decision, but it is certainly looking like Coach knew what he was doing.

Maybe he should visit this message board more often so people like you can "indicate" what the staff should or should not be doing?

Everybody is an expert after the fact.

Nope, you got the wrong guy. 450bench has been critical of coach, but always fair. And never ever bashes the players.

RE: POOKIE.......
I am not sure why folks were skeptical of Pookie in the first place. Guy averaged close to 40 his senior year of HS in Orlando. You know he can play. Just takes time to figure out how to adjust to the college game. He is going to be a good one.

I've always been a Powell fan. I may be too strong, in fact, with my thoughts on him. He's so smooth and fluid, starts the offense quickly, has great court presence and just does many things well. He's got a chance to be really, really good. I have also never ever mentioned Chris Chiozza on the forum.

OP exaggerating my comments. Never said pookie was going to be the greatest and in context my statement was about complaints about him when he's just starting to play division 1 ball and that it takes time to adjust

RE: POOKIE.......
No doubt Pookie will have growing pains/ups & downs, but he has tremendous potential. He’s also a better athlete and passer than I originally thought.

Looks like Pookie & Markel took advantage of being on a squad with 4 good senior guards last year.

Redshirt sophomore

Sophomore technically.

Redshirt freshman in all practicality though, as the NCAA will have to give him a waiver for a fifth year..

Pookie seems mature for his experience. He has a soft touch on his shot, too. Looks like the redshirt worked for him.

For Pookie to be his best Pastner is going to have to let him take some bad shots...He will make some of them.

One of my issues with Pastner is if the decision to take a shot is a reason to bench someone, it doesn't matter if it goes in or not.

He passed on a wide open 3 at the end of the game because he was thinking too much about what would happen if he missed.
