RE: CBS Sports: Study banks on healing, assumptions, no facts
"CBSSports.com also requested from UAB all emails discussing the football program's future among four key stakeholders over the past two years, and documentation showing Mackin's new job description and any compensation change since he resigned last month as athletic director to become special assistant to the university president for athletics. A university spokesman said, "There are no emails pursuant to your request, and there is not a document regarding Brian's reassignment."

Is there a criminal penalty for not complying with or hiding documents from the FOIA requester?

At what point does the Governor get off his butt and do something about this?

The more this report gets exposed the more questions it creates.

"Keep in mind, this decision wasn't about finding cost savings or cutting costs to break even," Bolton said.
And then there's the whole "no emails" line. I'm almost stunned into silence. Who, for one second, believes that to be the case?! Just... wow. Oh, and here's another little gem:
"UAB spokesman Jim Bakken said the process shifted (toward looking at UAB without football) in the spring of 2014 because initial numbers showed an increase in subsidies to fund football."
BUT according to Carr's memo:
""Carr's report to UAB in November uses the same projected subsidy numbers with and without football."
That's some serious clairvoyance on Carr's part to anticipate UAB requesting figures without football months in advance.
I'm almost stunned into silence over the brazen and criminal nature of this farce. Words truly do fail me.

Spring 2014 is March-April-May, so I guess they could have numbers in November 2014, unless I'm missing something.

I just read on Solomon's twitter where UAB paid 79,356 dollars since Nov 2013. Watts lied to Coach Clark, the students, the faculty, and the fans.

so, why did they not analyze what it would look like if we made those improvements? Used some financing for it? Increased support after the success of this year.
Watts went straight to work on this when he joined.
The email lie is total bull****. You can't do anything, anywhere without at least some email chain.
This also confirms they did not even consider intangible items outside the scope of the athletic department's balance sheet.
What effect does not having football in the football crazy southeast have on enrollment? How does less merchandise sales factor in at the campus bookstore? What about loss of free marketing from losing the sport with the most visbility? What about the effect on student life?

We're all witnesses to what's going to happen next if this crisis isn't reversed and soon. UAB's gonna look like a Jr. College!

No. I was missing something. I saw November and immediately thought 2013 (when they were first contracted to do the study). Trying to keep up with all of these lies is challenging.

The report also doesn't consider the loss in donations to other areas of campus resulting in pissing off a large group of donors.
