Did I read that right? Carr and co. projected UAB would remain in CUSA? What planet are they living on? There were published reports already that CUSA would likely NOT keep UAB because they didn't have enough votes. That's nothing more than a gamble and a big one at that.

I also find it laughable that they project some loss in donations but then a quick up-tick. On what basis? You think people will just get over this?

Also puzzled by the essential claim that this wasn't financial when in fact that's exactly how this was sold. How can they claim we will be more competitive? Donations will be down, likely heading to lower tier conference, potential to lose players or coaches in remaining sports.

How much of a scholarship is an actual cash expense? So for the accountants if there was a reconciliation to cash how much would be added back?

This report is a joke. How much did this elementary analysis cost the university or did the BOT pay for this hatchet job?

Well it IS bigger than 16 pages, but it's just a bunch of copy-pasta from Excel. Really now? No consideration of contingency even considered. It's like these figures exist in a vacuum, which of course, they don't!

Basketball re-seating is coming to increase revenue.
No baseball games at Regions.
$225,000 decrease in band budget.

The UAB Band Director was told by Ray Watts that there would be NO CHANGES to funding for the Band Program. If this is true, then Ray Watts lied to the band director.

Where was that mentioned? I did notice the investment in a baseball renovation (which makes no sense now that we can play all but 1-2 series there).

And mixdup makes another good point: where is the multi-million investment in the flagship program, men's basketball? Hint: they don't care if we move to a low major league.

I have it from an authority that the band will not be impacted at all.

1. Carr needs to be dragged out into the open over this. How the hell have they escaped pibluc scrutiny this far?

2. If this was Watts unilateral decision, which he has basically admitted to and this story supports, he should be given the no confidence vote. If he was instructed by others, oh lets say the BOT, he has violated even more rules and should be forced out for that. Either way, he and the board have painted themselves into a corner over this. Its time to hold their feet to the fire.

Maybe not, but it's in the report as an assumption.

If you run band members off, not as much money is needed is their thought.

Assuming your authority is someone in the music program, where did they get said assurance?

And if you don't think the marching band will be impacted, just count the number of freshmen we marched this year, then count the number we march next year.
