RE: 12/15 AAC Games
I know Memphis fans probably don't want to hear this right now, but North Carolina Central is no joke. They have tested the Bearcats 2 years in a row and are a legit mid-major team. They have good athletes and can really play D. If there was a line on that game, it would definitely be in the single digits.
To add an interesting stat about NCC, they haven't lost a game by more than 20 since February 17, 2011. I wonder how many teams can claim that? Probably not many.

* Like what you did there although NCCU lost to Creighton by 20(game before Cincy). NCCU was the oldest team in the nation last year(lost a lot). Similar to MIA the year before. NCCU is not the team of the past few years. It would be like judging your season by beating(or playing close) Memphis or Cincy this year. It does not mean much of anything.
If your comparing your season to how well you played NCCU, well then you have already lost.

I can't believe they do point spreads in any sport other than football. I've seen it in baseball, hockey, and basketball but its still weird to see.

As I said, they have not lost by more than 20 in almost 4 years. Yes, they lost a lot, and they are not very deep. But their starting 5 is very good. If they stay out of foul trouble, they can compete with almost anyone. They lost to North Carolina and Maryland by 16 and 11, respectively. That's pretty solid for a MEAC team against ranked opponents.
Also, I am not comparing our season to how well we played NCCU. Both NCCU and UC lost a lot, as did Memphis. Last year's Cincy or Memphis team beats this year's NCCU comfortably. This year's Cincy struggled and I think Memphis will as well.

One ECU poster posted in that thread and he is about the only one who will bring up stuff like that.

Some Memphis fans probably expect to lose this game (I actually think a few WANT to lose it), so not sure why you think we wouldn't want to hear it. Most fans are more focused on how much longer Pastner survives. Losing to NCCU wouldn't generate any more drama on our board than we already have. Just would reinforce what has already been said.

Maybe Im wrong, but it seems that the perception of many Memphis fans is that Pastner is not the guy to guide the Memphis program forward and this year performance if it continues could be what forces the change

That would be a good assessment.
Frankly, I was never a fan of Pastner's hire to begin with, but I certainly understood why our previous AD brought him in. Losing an icon like Calipari puts you in desperation mode, especially with all your blue-chip recruits backing out of their commitments. We needed a big-time recruiter who could salvage the Memphis brand and keep the program from falling off a cliff. The "hope" was that he would somehow learn the ropes and blossom into a great X's and O's guy, if we could just be patient enough.
No matter what happens at this point, and I think we all know what's going to happen, I'll always be thankful that Josh managed to keep the Tigers relevant over the last five years. He brought in some truly great talent, like Will Barton and Joe Jackson, which made for some exciting and memorable basketball.

Now we need to figure out how to play like that against good teams.
BTW, who in here said NCC would be a tough out? Maybe so, but man, we rolled over them from beginning to end.

RE: 12/15 AAC Games
They gave Cincinnati a good scare, which is what made me nervous about playing them tonight.
Our athleticism and speed just overwhelmed them. Definitely the most complete game we've played from start to finish.
