I guess we'll see if BYU is willing to concede Sunday play. If they are I'd imagine it's BYU and Cincinnati. If they aren't then Cincinnati and Memphis makes sense.

The committee sent a clear message to the B12: “We won't allow a co-champ from a supposed 'One True Champ' conference while the other P4 risk playing CCGs!”

I'm still trying to figure out why Memphis would even be on the list. They just had their first winning season in six years and beat nobody to do it?

Memphis brings elite basketball and local support for the Liberty Bowl.

and I huge donor who would more then likely cut a check to sponsor the Big 12 championship game.

people forget that within the B12, basketball and baseball are very important too.

This is going to be a football driven expansion. Memphis is going nowhere unless Big XII goes 14. Cincy and UCF can start packing their bags though.

I've heard that one before and at the end of the day its already Big 12 vs. SEC. That being said I can definitely see the appeal of Memphis to the Big 12 in an overall sense. Think of it as similar to Rutgers on the football side it opens up a new market (albeit not as big of one as NJ/NYC) and great recruiting grounds with an improving product. To make up for the fact that Memphis is a much smaller market than NJ they have an elite or near elite men's hoops program.

Cincy is a lock IMHO if the Big 12 were to expand.

I get the feeling ESPN might do something like put WVU in the ACC which would free up the big 12 to go west with 3-5 from Col state, BYU, NMex, UNLV, AFA, Memphis and Boise. I could see the acc jump to 18 with uconn, wvu and cincy and go off into 3 pods of 6 + such a move would kick start the acc network. For football the ACC could bring in ND into a pod and than pick who goes into the title game. As for the big 12, they get to carve out a niche between the pac 10 and big 10/sec.

But yet people are saying New Mexico (who hasn't had a winning season in a while) and CSU (who just lost their coach and had a 10 win season which hasn't happen in about forever)

ACC has no expansion plans unless ND joins full time. Then Swofford will towards Texas not North East.

IMHO Fuente is the real deal at Memphis. Michigan is sniffing around at Tubs, he will stay at Cincy.
If they go to 12, for oly sports and travel, my guess is Cincy and Memphis.

I was attending a luncheon at UC today at at the exact moment OSU was announced. President Ono was giving a speech. I let him know during the speech thru whispering the words OSU. He came over to me after his speech and he asked me if I was saying OSU was selected and he proceeded to smile and said this is going to put an awful lot of pressure on the Big 12 to expand. we talked about the irony of TOSU providing us with some needed help. I don't know anything and he didn't say so but I saw how much this news meant to him.

I have a good feeling guys.

He also mentioned that Tubbs is getting some attention from Michigan

You mean the same teams UCF beat to get to the same record? Memphis scored 47 more points than UCF, while facing a superior OOC schedule, and only allowed 2 more points than UCF. Memphis had more total, pass, and rush yards than UCF. And UCF's defense is only slightly better statistically than Memphis'. Both Memphis and UCF were superb at kicking this season, but Memphis was better at punting.

Statistically speaking, Memphis likely beats UCF head-to-head in a close game. Statistically we have Memphis beating UCF on the offensive side and special teams side. While only being slightly behind on the defensive side.

We had a weak schedule this year as well, no argument. But we've had a track record of success over the last 5-10 years. Memphis football has been arguable bottom 10 in the nation over the last five seasons. One winning season against what was also a weak schedule is not enough to prove they're strong enough to hang in a power conference.

And where does Cuse fall in between those teams? And we've heard those arguments before when played Baylor and Georgia. We all know there's no such thing a transitive win in football, unfortunately we won't know since the AAC headshed didn't schedule us.

BYU and Boise State for football-only. It's the simplest approach for the Big XII. They can essentially cut a football-only school (like the Big East did Temple) if they don't work out.

Boise State
BYU
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
West Virginia

Baylor
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
TCU
Texas
Texas Tech

There are no indications that the olympic sports number will go to XII as this is a football related matter.

***Then UTEP replaces BSU in the Mountain West and C-USA stays put at twelve.

Just exactly why does the B12 go east before west? Remember when the old Big East was hot and heavy for Boise? BYU has a national fan base. No saying the East is out, but the East does not necessarily have it out right. I think one from the East and West would work. Cinci and BYU would be the best choices.
