We have some young high quality defensive players coming back. We should be fine. Maybe not as strong as this year, but that was one of the better Tiger defenses in the last 20 years and maybe more. Jackson Dillon will probably be 250 by the time he is a Senior and an All Conference selection. Everyone should keep an eye on Genard Avery. He is a freshman and, I think, will fill in nicely for Tank. This kid has size (245 lbs) speed and seems to possess the intelligence to be where he needs to be. Ever heard the comment "flys to the ball"....that's him. Very advanced for a freshman. He could be big time. Ifedi and Redden will be missed but our Offense will be much better. With our returning/newcomer Running Backs, Receivers and outstanding QB, the defense may not be out there a lot.

.
We will miss all these guys. Redden will be the toughest to replace. I will miss Harris too. Need to keep that Whitehaven connection strong.

I am not a "scout team" specialist, but the Safety that was awarded (for the scout team) defensive player of the year- I think his name is Ty Northern - looks about the same size as Lonnie Ballentine. He was recognized at the Senior banquet last night.
Anyway, LOOKS LIKE HE CAN BRING IT!

A huge amount of reps, perhaps the most in Tiger history. Plus we have the bowl practices, that is usually used to develop young talent for the next year.

RE: Who all do we lose this year for football?
Your question got me into research mode and this is what I came up with. I'm sure I've missed someone along the way but based on what I found the cupboard isn't completely bare. As the previous poster said, these kids got tons of reps and some were even spot starters.

Returning Defensive Line Lettermen with current class designation:
Latarius Brady SO
Ernest Suttles FR
Christian Johnson FR
Donald Pennington SO
Ricky Hunter JR
Cortez Crosby

6 Current D-line commitments

Returning Linebacker Lettermen:
Jackson Dillon SO
Genard Avery FR
Shareef White FR
Noah Robinson FR
Leonard Pegues JR
Wynton McManis SO
Lenard Harden SO

1 Current LB commitment

Returning DB Lettermen:
Reggis Ball JR
Chauncey Lanier SO
Dontrell Nelson SO
Chris Morley SO
B.J. Ross SO
Dion Witty JR
DaShaughn Terry SO

3 Current DB commitments

It looks like we will have 7 offensive starters returning and 3 defensive starters returning. In addition, my count shows 19 reserve letter winners returning on offense plus 17 reserve letter winners on defense.

If someone sees an error, please fire away.

RE: Who all do we lose this year for football?
In an effort to change the mood a bit, I thought we could go to a happier place and offer the hope of next years football team. Earlier it was discussed who was returning on defense, so let's now take a look at our offensive prospects for next year.

Returning Offensive Line Lettermen with current class designation:
Tyler Uselton JR
Gabe Kuhn FR
Zach Collins FR
Chris Roberson SO
Tony Mays SO
Sam Thomas SO
Taylor Fallin JR
Alexander Karr FR
Micah Simmons JR
Michael Stannard SO

2 Current OL commitments

Returning Tight End Lettermen
Alan Cross JR
Robby Young FR
Daniel Montiel SO

0 Current TE commitments

Returning Wide Receiver Lettermen
Mose Frazier JR
Tevin Jones JR
Greg McKillion SO
Rod Proctor FR
Drew Bishop SO
Phil Mayhue FR
Sam Craft SO
Daniel Hurd SO

3 Current WR commitments

Returning Running Back Lettermen
Jarvis Cooper FR
Robert Davis FR
Doroland Dorceus SO
Tearris Wallace FR

0 current RB commitments

Returning Quarterback Lettermen
Paxton Lynch SO
Jason Stewart JR

1 current QB commitment

Not that anyone was asking for this information but just felt like discussing something positive. Go Tigers!

I think Emmanuel Cooper is really a big LB. Still sad over losing DB Burton to OSU. He was a baller.
