Bentley is a liar. He is talking out of both sides of his mouth on this issue. Look at how he handled the teachers' raises. I will wait and see what he does but I won't hold my breath.

Might well be, but I'm encouraged by his comments. He seems more complimentary about our football program than our own president...

I don't expect much, so I'm just glad he said "we have a very good coach" instead of "they have a very good coach"

Not sure what message he's trying to send: that (a) he's chairman and is ultimately the one who wields the most power or that (b) he's chairman and is actually a non-voting member with little influence.

I guess we should start calling him "Crawfish" Bentley.

Hmm, don't know how much weight that carries but that is an interesting development. Encouraging that he referred to the football team as "we."

He may have little influence, the real "power" is with the president pro-tem, but he does have a vote (as does Tommy Bice, State Superintendent of Education). While they hardly ever show up and vote, they could if they wanted to.

He's a politician, guys. I wouldn't put much stock into anything positive he has to say right now.

True, but as a politician he may be pretty adept at understanding which direction the wind is blowing. It's not much, but I'll cling to any hope right now.

Take what we can get. He could easily have just said it's none of his concern.

What is he campaigning for?

This probably means that he's hearing from our calls to him and other lawmakers in Montgomery. Don't let up. Keep hitting them with the facts.

This is VERY significant. True, he is a politician but he could have very easily copped out of making a statement. This is a 180 degree turn around from his previous statements (on & off the record). For him to show ANY support at this late hour shows that there is change afoot.
