RE: UAB fans, remember this
In 1989 Bryant was quoted in Esquire as describing the clientele at his Alabama dog track as "a low-class, low-income crowd ... generally your lower class of blacks, your welfare blacks, you want 'em to have enough room to get in and out, but at the same time you want to get as many in as possible."

In 2000 the Legislative Black Caucus seized on those comments to try to block his appointment to the Board of Trustees. Little Bear said Esquire invented the quotes. Little Bear got his way -- he got onto the Board of Trustees.

Remember what I said about how dumb Alabama fans are?

Well, one has just posted a comment today thinking this article was just written. The stupidity that is emitted from Alabama fans is almost difficult to believe is humanly possible.

The comments attributed to Bryant "sound" legit to me, just based on what else I know about Bryant and the sort of people he has been hanging out with all his life.

At the same time, Esquire magazine might -- if it really cleaned up its act -- have almost as credibility as Weekly World News or National Enquirer. No one should be "convicted" on the basis of a quote in that magazine.

It didn't mean based on the article. I got Esquire for about six months until I realized it was a Liberal Mouthpiece for Metro-Sexuals. I just think the amount of collusion involved in shutting down one program for the sake of another should put him in the pen.

That's just the kind of crap Marketing people say all day. I don't think Marketing people should run universities, but P.W. Underbear or whatever he's called didn't say anything worse than "I like money" in that quote.

Maybe so, but he needs to take Pat Dye, Bobby Lowder and Jimmy "Yellow Pine" with him.

Bobby Lowder, I heartily concur, occupies the same moral/ethical territory as Paul Bryant.

Disagree about Pat Dye.

Not familiar with Yellow Pine. ???

Wow, that guy is a horrible person.

He looks like he's ready for a heart attack. Irony is- he will likely end up needing UAB medical services. Hope the guy operating the defibrillator is an African-American former football player.

if you are a louisianian think the huey long political machine when you think UAT and bama, anyone who opposed them is dealt with swiftly.

bammers are an irrational bunch. from killing each other to killing trees.

Bammers hate Dye and Raine. Bama has never really lost a game to auburn because auburn cheats. every school in the sec has been on ncaa probation for a major infraction but auburn since 1997. bama even got caught paying over 100,000 dollars for a player from memphis and has been on major probation at least twice since auburn, but auburn cheats. lol (they both cheat its just funny seeing bama fans act sanctimonious)

When Dye was named head coach at auburn a reporter asked him how long it would take to beat bama (au hadnt won in about 15 years)

Dye answered 60 minutes.

Dye had the iron bowl moved from legion field to home and home. Legion field was a home game for bama despite 50/50 ticket sales. When asked why Dye insisted on moving the game and why it wasnt a neutral game he responded something like "hell there is a statue of the bear in the parking lot"

Bammers hate Dye

Jimmy Raine, auburn trustee, owns a lumber company producer. yella wood
you gotta be hardcore bama to know who he is and hate him

Yea that indictment mentions Raine in the same sentence as Proud Bammer (and total UAT homer) former Gov. Bob Riley. I don't get the issue here. But to be honest, I've heard nothing about Raine. I'm sure the courts will sort that out.

Its not like Auburn is trying to shut down Troy or USA or UAB either.

Does anyone know the names of the two twin brothers (bookies) that were killed, that crossed Bryant and his dog tracks ?

I wanted to see if I could Google any more info on that.
