UCA pregame
They are 0-5. Their best effort was probably a 6-point loss to SEMO. They probably will start a front line of 6-9, 6-9, 6-5, so they will have a slight size advantage.

They shoot the 3 very well (39.6%), but their free throws are only 65.7%. They get murdered on the boards (-11). They turn the ball over about 18 times per game. Opponents shoot 46% against them and 36% from the arc. Even a good shooting team is hard pressed to make up for those kinds of numbers.

Over 38% of their attempts are from the arc, so it appears that they just shoot a lot of 3s and hope that will make for all the other areas of their play that are terrible. However, with their 3-point shooting and our terrible 3-point defense, who knows what might happen.

Sounds like they are pretty much on the playground. If we play sound, disciplined ball, we ought to win this one without too much trouble.

Does sound like playground ball- bombs away. But on a given night, when they are hitting, they can beat some folks.

They had better win if I am going to drive all the way to see them play.

Sounds like, not only did Corliss not win many games, he also left UCA ineligible due to APR problems. If Pennell is the right guy, which he might be, no reason UCA shouldn't have a good basketball program. They went the "splash hire" route, like we did with Sidney, but I think they now have a solid basketball coach.

No reason we shouldn't have a good program either, and we've been D-1 a lot longer than we have. I hope Pennell is a good coach, and probably is, but it might be a little early to judge him at 0-5. I know, ole Corliss didn't leave him a well stocked stable like Porter left Shields.

This is a game where our bottom tier of players ought to get some playing time. We shall see. Shields teams are notoriously slow out of the gate.

I am really glad this game and series are happening. With travel costs being what they are it is stupid for two teams 30 miles apart not to play each year ( goes for women too).

Hopefully the five years will be renewed and we can be competitive within a few years. Regardless, it's a game: my wife will be wearing Trojan Black and I will have on Purple.

Let's all have some fun and be thankful we live in a country where we can enjoy sports like this.

It's a rivalry game. I wouldn't take anything for granted.

I don't, thus the word "should." And they are a team that currently lives by the 3, where anything can happen.

I didn't know we had black in our school colors, even though some our coaches have tried to change colors for years. I didn't like it when Newell went to that putrid gold, and I don't like the black. Maroon isn't the prettiest color in the rainbow, but it's the school colors.

It's not a rivalry game yet, but I sure hope it becomes one. And I hope that don't schedule the game during holidays in the future. Bet we won't draw flies.

Everyone will be shopping or watching football on TV while they snooze from too much leftover turkey.

That was the largest crowd of the year so far. Probably cracked the 1,000 mark for the first time this year. Remember. These are actual figures. Ghosts are no longer counted.04-cheers
