Don't be stupid.

You're right, we might actually hang on for a come from behind victory. Maybe.

Yeah, but we shouldn't have given up any points against SMU.

Right... But it's difficult to shutdown a team who IMO is only misfiring and has has no direction this season.

That's true. Also, it goes to show how inept the majority of this coaching staff is.

Well...I'm not sure how thrilled I am with a win. A loss may have been more of a benefit to UH football, a blessing in disguise.

You know, perhaps Levine isn't the problem, if he could surround himself with a proven OC things will improve a lot in the W section and inappropriate Houston comments of him wouldn't be as bad.

That's absolutely impossible to say. We have a coaching staff running a 4th grade level offense. In terms of QB development---the staff is a complete and total zero there as well. Both QB's have regressed in the two years they have been on campus under the current staffs coaching. When this staff is dismissed and a competent offensive coordinator and his staff are in place---then we we might be able to get a decent read on what we have. My feeling is we have two very solid QB prospects. Their spring development should dictate the who we start and what kind of offense we run next year. My guess is both Ward and O'Korn are MUCH better QB's than they showed this year simply because they are running dumb-and-dumber's silly little offense.

I think Levine CAN be successful with a great OC and a great DC. I do not believe Levine has shown he has the ability to select either on a consistent basis (in fact, he shown just the opposite).

I think Houston would be better off with a candidate who actually brings something to the table beyond special teams expertise who has already proven the ability to be a successful FBS head coach. In terms of growing into the job, the fans have tired of Levines very slow learning curve. He seems to be making the same mistakes over and over. I think we need a guy who has already been a successful head coach at the FBS level or higher.

Willie Fritz would be the type of guy I would look at. Dino Babers at Bowling Green and Rod Carey at NIU are also interesting possibilities. All 3 make less than 450K and are solid, competent, successful FBS head coaches that Houston could probably afford to hire. All 3 would have to consider taking over a program with great facilities, solid talent in place, with good TV exposure, where they would receive BIG raises in the process. Babers and Fritz are both from Texas---so it would also offer the opportunity to get back close to home where most of their recruiting connections exist. Wade Phillips would be one other candidate who is intriguing. He lives in Houston (just built a new home there), played for UH, and has been a head coach in the NFL for both Texas NFL franchises (Cowboys and Texans). He is well known in the state and would likely be able to recruit well and assemble a highly competent staff. He would probably be the best "splash hire" name available.

I was there. What a horrible game. Lots of QB roll outs, then running to the sideline.
