I was messing around and I noticed you guys have plans to expand Cajun Field. Now I saw where you just finished an expansion but what I am seeing shows plans to wrap the stadium all the way around, possibly a new press box. Upper deck wrapped around also. When exactly is the goal for all of this to take place by or is the just a dream scenario?

We bowl in the end zone in order to accommodate those displaced when construction begins. The construction of the 70k square foot athletic performance center is underway. The new track and soccer complex is expected to start shortly after the end of football season. Donors have stepped to fast track the new baseball stadium which is expected to begin after this baseball season. I imagine/hope that the large portion of construction on the football stadium will begin after the last home football game in 2015.

Don't bet on it, there is no RCAF fundraiser in place. They are not close to having the funds to complete the second phase of the football stadium. Farmer also stated yesterday that the Athletic Complex Center will be completed in eleven months. So that pretty much takes the construction to the end of next season.

Thanks for the update Debbie. Pretty sure the lemoine company is large enough to work on more than 1 project at a time. I'll stay optimistic but thanks.

The three responses after your post are accurate. The fundraising is underway, so, succinctly, the goal to do all of the expansion is when all the money is raised. There is, unfortunately, no specific timetable for completion, but work will continue every year until it's all finished.

I don't blame you, because that's all we can do at this point with Farmer running the show. But it sounds like you believe everything Farmer tells you. Makes sense now Scott.

RE: Cajun Fans
Short to medium range goal is to completely tear down and rebuild the current west side upper deck with a slightly reduced capacity for seating but close to 30 suites. Then construct a matching upper deck on the east side. Plus an addition of one section on the NE corner of the stadium to bring some symmetry to the north end zone. That should bring capacity to around 45k. We will stop at that point and focus on other projects within the athletic department.

The track and field complex will be getting a $4M facility that will have a training room, locker rooms for track/X country as well as soccer. A 70,000 sqft athletic performance center which is under construction now, mostly groundwork right now. Baseball has supposedly found some big money donors for the grandstand renovation of Tigue Moore. I'll believe it when I see it, Farmer has lied about baseball renovations before.

We are growing rapidly after 36 years of stagnation and downright contempt for athletics by our previous administration. We have gone from a $11 million dollar budget in '07 to surpassing $20 million this season without the benefit of a student athletic fee. If we do get a student fee passed we will exceed a $30 million dollar budget soon after the fee is implemented.

LOL!!If he gets his information from the AD's office or Administration, then he probably knows what they tell him. Too bad there has been no RCAF Fundraiser hired and the foundation has yet to be separated from the university. But hey, I'm sure those suites and upper decks are just a year away!07-coffee3

I don't, I'm gonna stay positive because of what the supporters of our program are willing to do in spite of the lack of leadership. My confidence is not in the front office, trust me...it's in our people and our economy.

And if we started after next year, we are talking completion by 2017. Not once did I say they were a year away.

Until we can average about 35,000 per home game, it's hard to imagine the need for further expansion.

It is less about expansion and more about structural renovation. Expansion is a byproduct. We will sell the suites and make revenue off off them that will offset the empty 15,000 seats especially if we have suites on both the east and west sides.

Look I don't want meaningless expansion either, but a 45,000 seat stadium is not too large considering that close to 1/2 of the states population lives within an hour and thirty minute drive of the stadium, 2/3rds if you stretch that out to 2 hours. We are not talking about a 100k seat stadium like LSpoo.
