UAB's long future ahead in football aside, I can assure you that Clark has got his sights set quite a bit higher than that school.

I can assure you that he does as well. However, I can also assure you that Troy has already offered, and that it will be the next stepping stone for Clark if he jumps ship from UAB.

Living in AL I do not believe this was the case, but could be the BEST unintended result. If UAB can get B'ham fired up, it will pay dividends. Hoping for the best!

You missed the point in all of this. UAB graduates medical Drs who typically have high salaries. Bama wants that money. They will kill the UAB program just to keep that money from going to things like a nice new on campus stadium for the Blazers. Happened to a smaller degree to USM.

Why would Clark take a step down to a school like Troy? He wouldnt do that. He would probably take a coordinators job at one of the P5 schools before doing that.

I recall in one thread a poster commenting about Tulane doing something similar over 10 years ago. That's sure worked out well for them.05-nono

Tulane raised tons of money from donations after discussions arose of possibly shutting down their football program. Evidence of this is easy enough to see. If you haven't noticed, they just built a brand new stadium. I'd say it worked out about as well as they could have hoped.

Yes, a brand new cozy 23,500 seat stadium to go with their cozy basketball arena which seats about 3500.

So no, it hasn't worked out as well as they could have hoped. There are a lot of Tulane fans who have been mighty upset for many years with the direction of their program. Fans so upset that this past weekend during their homecoming they paid for a flyover with a banner saying, "Fire Dickson".

But I guess you didn't notice.

Better to have a 23,500 seat stadium and a coach that you want to fire than no stadium nor coach at all.

I think you're trying a little too hard with this one...

Lot of empty seats for a 23k stadium. Yikes.

When your team is collapsing like Tulane's you will see lots of empty seats.

And they can't claim there was 18K there. The Dome is just huge, anymore. They will start to look like EMU, 3-4k in an itty bitty stadium. At least EMU has 30.2K stadium.

Still better than playing in the Dome with 65,000 empty seats.

Well, Memphis fans went to the game and spoke to a gentleman who worked on the stadium. According to him it has 26,000 permanent seats, and room for maybe 1,500 SRO fans...that would put it at 27,500 total.

But what does he know, he only helped build the place.

FWIW, from everything that I've seen the stadium is gorgeous, and Devlin Fieldhouse looks fantastic for how small it is.

I'd take Devlin Fieldhouse over the larger venues at UTSA, Ga State, etc.

That's interesting, because NO ONE seems to know the actual number of seats (which is just one of many problems the average rabid Tulane fan has with AD Dickson)......I think he claims 30,000 capacity but has never said how many seats.

Anyway, if you don't believe me, here's a thread on the topic.....238 pages of discussion of how many seats in Yulman. It seems the most accurate number that anyone as obtained is the guy who used the Tulane website selling seats and counted them section by section, one by one. I think his number was 23,400.

Makes sense. All along those numbnuts on that forum should have been asking the pipe fitters, electricians, plumbers, painters, carpenters, and concrete guys on the number of seats installed instead of the AD. Construction guys are always keenly aware of stuff like that.

This clearly seems like some 'end all, be all' for you.

I watched Tulane play GTech and Memphis at Yulman via ESPN3...it looked like 10x the atmosphere they had at the Dome, and a real 'college feel' to it.

I also believe our fan who talked to the construction engineer at the club box...if you wish to believe different, OK.

Ah, so now we've gone from a gentleman who 'worked' on the place to the construction engineer

Okay, I've been yanking your chain here because after reading page upon page over a period of several months of Tulane fans questioning the exact seating capacity of Yulman (and no one getting a satisfactory answer from anyone at Tulane), it just seems a bit far-fetched that a friend of a friend stumbles into the place and gets the exact seating from a guy hanging out at the bar. As one article says, depending on who's doing the counting, it seats anywhere from 22,000 to 30,000. I can vouch for that because a quick search of the internets comes up with no exact number, at least not anywhere that I've seen.

And btw, no where did I comment on the atmosphere of Yulman versus the Dome so you're arguing a point I didn't try to make.

I listed to Saturday's game between the Tigers and the Wave. Congrats on a good game. Hard to figure how a team can play so well one week (Wave vs Coogs) and suck donkey balls the next when the talent level of the competition from one week to the next is not that drastically different.

Good luck going forward.04-cheers
