Thought WVU fans didn't care about Marshall
Saw a couple of signs mocking Marshall on Gameday. They must matter to somebody up there.

They are probably just jealous because Marshall is undefeated. But what do I know?

wvu fans are embarrassed to call a CUSA school their rival, but make no mistake, Marshall is their most hated rival, and it's not even close.

Source: Live in WV, have two degrees from wvu.

RE: Thought WVU fans didn't care about Marshall
Ive had 2 brain surgeries (Epilepsy surgery) at Ruby Memorial Hospital on WVUs campus. The times I had to go up for tests and hospital stays I always had Marshall gear on. I only had one girl say something to me. She was like 4'10 and said "Why would you wear that here" on an elevator. But if looks could kill, I would have been dead before I even got out of the car the 1st time.

WVU fans can claim they don't care about Marshall or watch what goes on in Huntington but that's a load of crap.

They had a QB before Pat White named Rasheed Marshall and they had a shirt that read "Rasheed: The only Marshall in WV that matters"

See the shirt here

There is a website called thedigger.com, its a website like the onion for the state of WV. A few years ago they run a story about Rakeem Cato transferring to WVU. Some of their fans were fooled and excited about him coming, until they figured out it was a joke.

Rakeem Cato to WVU

WHO fans excited and then disappointed about Cato coming and then not

Don't let any of them fool you that they couldn't care what goes on in Huntington. A lot of them follow Marshall just as close as the WHO just to hope they fail.

The fact that they had signs dogging Marshall on Gameday proves they do care.

That would be a great Access bowl matchup.

Surprised several haven't shown up in a thread on a C-USA message board to proudly declare how little they care about Marshall.

I suspect that might happen unless WVU is Big12 champion.

My guess is they would become LA Tech and turn the bowl bid down.

Why would they? It'd be a big draw, and they'll probably blow Marshall out.

Yep, and a possible one as well if they pull the upset over TCU.

Most WVU fans have a huge Marshall OBBSESSION. I've witnessed it from the moment I came to the state as a freshman at Marshall. WVU fans freak out and spaz if Marshall is brought up. They go out of their way to make comments about Marshall from their fans to their athletic coaches and beyond. It's hilarious. I still get flipped off driving down the interstate and sure enough it's some WVU fan. Their fans live on Marshall message boards and have for decades now. I couldn't even tell you what WVU's record is yet they know who Marshall is playing and more stats than a sports writer covering the team.

Perfect example was when they announced Cato doing an interview and their fans lost it.

I will give WVU this much I've met many WVU alums that are cordial and often really enjoy Marshall's success. It's usually the 'neck who went to WV State or Fairmont State or no college at all that runs their mouth and acts the most idiotic.

I came to the state to go to Marshall and had no care in the world about WVU. My time spent here since 1998 witnessing how WVU fans are and how the institution as a whole acts and is treated in this state has made me despise WVU.

Idk how you can say they would probably blow us out.. Probably beat us, I could see you saying that.. Probably blow us out.. I don't get that.. WVU is good but in my opinion no one in the Big 12 is as good as ESPN wants us to think they are.. I'm sorry but I just can't rank teams in the top 10 that routinely give up 50 and 60 points like those Big 12 teams do.. In my opinion that's why K-State is the best team in that league they are the only team that actually plays defense.

Depending what happens in the two ranked vs ranked PAC games this evening, Marshall could be as high as 19 in the AP and Coaches Poll come tomorrow.

...Then hope the committee blesses us with ANY ranking come Tuesday.

The latter is what you should be concerned with because the committee showed last Tuesday they gives a rat's chit about the AP/Coaches Poll.

They may not care about us, but losing to TCU in the last minutes of the game by one point at home makes their tears taste delicious. 03-nutkick

I would rather see a total heartbreak at the end for them than the 80-10 beating I was originally hoping for.

Agreed, MUther - their fans went from "We'll be Big 12 Champs" to "Fire Horsewoman" in the time it took Boykin to have a game winning drive against them (which wasn't long)...

Losing on a last second play is much worse, now their fans will spend the next week wonder what if...
