RE: Troy Fans.....
The ones on my list/poll are some of the ones being looked at by the committee... I'm sure there's others
Hartwell said there's 80+ applicants. Some are current FBS head coaches, current P5 OC and DC, some current FCS head coaches and even some NFL coaches....
No one really knows.... I can tell you it won't be chizik

None that I could tell you...
I'll be surprised if Oregeron comes to Troy. We could offer him a million and he still might not come.

Disappointing, his press conferences would be golden!

That they would... But you never know. I've seen stuff Mr Ho say come true several times. There could be some truth to it..... Seriously no one has heard anything.

Brother Hugh has been trying to get his OC Dan Werner a head coaching job for a couple years now. His story is sad, but good. His Wife died suddenly about 6 years ago when he was an OC at Northwestern State, leaving him as a single parent to a 10 year old, and an autistic 4 year old. He quit his job immediately and took a High School job because he didn't want his kids raised by a Nanny. Did that for 4 years before finally deciding to give College Coaching a shot again and took the OC Job at Ole Miss.
I think that's the primary staff candidate down in Oxford. I still think you're foolish if you don't call Rhett Lashlee. I think he'd take a Sun Belt Job knowing what it did for Gus. Whether or not he feels Troy is too much of a rebuild is another story.

Rhett Lashlee will very likely get interviewed...
I have 100% faith in John Hartwell. He's been nothing but gold for us... He will make the correct decision for Troy. Whether Troy fans like the hire or not.

Your biggest Weankess in this search is the current struggles of the team. On one hand, you can basically tell a coach that they can set the program up any way they want and be able to recruit for it, on the other, it might be three or four years before the Trojans are ever relevant in the SBC race again. A coach that wants to win now and move on won't take that kind of job

Seeing how we have over 80+ applicants we got a nice pool to choose from.
Fbs coaches, P5 assistants, FCS HC, NFL coaches
I would say the Troy job is drawing a lot of interest even given the bad team performance. LB was a legend at Troy. And the next HC has big shoes to fill.

I'm not sure Rhett would that eager unless he looked it over and felt there was enough talent on hand for a bowl contender. He's Gus's boy and Gus has shown he's a big believer in places where the miracles come fairly easily. Wasn't it Bentonville he accepted then turned down? Vandy threw all sorts of money at him.

Searches are two-part.
Weeding through the applicants and identifying people you want to talk to who didn't apply.
There's no shame in Coaching Search reporting Chad Morris isn't interested because you never know, the guy who didn't apply and looks to be out of your price range might talk to you and come to the conclusion he wants to run his own team and likes the leadership after talking.

RE: Troy Fans.....
I've heard through the grapevine that Steve Campbell at Central Arkansas (an obvious candidate) and Rhett Lashlee at Auburn are on the short list...
Steve Campbell I think would be a great hire. He's #1 on my list. He won a Division II national championship with a struggling Delta State program in 2000. He also won a JUCO national championship in 2007. And now he has UCA on track to possibly win a Southland Conference title his first season there. Not to mention the offensive system he runs is pretty nasty... averaging 44 points per game.
Rhett Lashlee on the other hand has no head coaching experience, but he has certainly learned under one of the best offensive minds in college football in Gus Malzahn. So Lashlee probably has a lot of ideas and schemes he would like to try as a head coach somewhere.

RE: Troy Fans.....
Before I say this, let me preface by saying that I am simply sharing information and not jumping on this bandwagon.
The word in south Georgia (Valdosta, Tifton, Moultrie, Thomasville) is that the next head coach of Troy will be none other than current Colquit County coach and former Hoover High coach/star of the MTV hit show "2 A Days", Mr. Rush Probst. Yes, it's true. These jacklegs actually believe this to be a done deal. Enough that it's been in the local media for a couple of weeks.
So get ready Troy... a giant bag of douche is coming to town!
And like I said, I absolutely don't think it's happening, but these fools down here really do believe it.
May as well add this: http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/...tball.html

I dont believe our AD would want to follow up Larrys legacy with such a controversial guy as HC of our program and NO college coaching experience. I just dont see it.
