Donor Suggestions
So now that we have an awesome plan, aside from the usual suspects, who do we know who will be able to pony up what will probably end up amounting to about $200M by the time all is said and done?

My nominee is Cisco Systems Chairman Emeritus John Morgridge. He and his wife Tashia are very philanthropic, and they have donated to NIU in the past because one of their parents attended many, many years ago. I know this because I was working for Cisco when the donation happened, about 10-15 years ago.

Anybody else? Don't look at me--I have $8 in my checking account that has to last until next week.

I think the student athletes should sell M&M's to raise some money.

I have a good amount of money saved for retirement, but my wife won't let me spend it on Huskie athletics. Maybe after all the kids are out of the house and college.

I'm thinking a Dog Pound Kickstarter should get things going....We'll tell the world that we're making a macaroni salad for the first time...people won't be able to resist.

Tell poopsie you can't take it with you, man! The guy that wins is the guy whose last check bounces! We all could get a grabber at any minute, Ebola, or hit by a bus, etc.

I am stupid with $ and also cheap too but I will give big $ to this project.

We could sell fake stock and give people an ownership share in Huskie stadium. The key is to never have dividends, don't allow it to be traded, and sell a lot of it. I'm still not sure how the cheese heads bought into this.

I like the idea but I don't think it could be considered a donation then...could it?

Isn't Calamos Investments an NIU alum? Calamos Field isn't that bad. I'll use his company if he bought naming rights.

Jerry Rich. I know he donated a spiffy van to the golf team but not sure if he has contributed anything else.

I believe he is consistently one of the big donors, but I'm sure he has plenty more cash stacked in the back room.

Discover's corporate headquarters is in the Chicagoland area. Since they sponsor the Orange Bowl maybe NIU can get a nice donation from them.

I was going to post this yesterday but didn't know if it had any relevance...and I think the idea of having a thread discussing people who should donate money is ridiculous

Anyway, I saw that a Jim Rich was listed as one of the AECOM contributors for the master plan. I have no idea but wondered if he is a son of Jerry Rich. Either way I'm sure Jerry has been included on at least some of the discussions for this project.

He and his wife did donate a 2nd spiffy van along with helping buy full unis and equipment for both teams.

He lets us use his club, Rich Harvest Farms as our home course. This course is one of the finest private courses in the US and was originally set-up as an ultra-exclusive club (I believe it was 50 members including Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan, etc). That's got to be worth 10's, if not 100's of thousands of dollars.
