MAC Rankings

1. Garbage

I stand corrected. Trying to separate different degrees of garbage is quite difficult.

I'll try my best:

1. Toledo (banana peel)
2. WMU (Apple core)
3. NIU (blown tire)
4. BGSU (fish skin)
5. CMU (spoiled milk)
6. Akron (rotten egg)
7. UMass (overgrown weeds)
8. Ohio (pile of dirt)
9. Buffalo (Buffalo, NY)
10. Ball St. (Gary, IN)
11. Miami (watching two winless MAC teams play)
12. EMU (Detroit, MI)
13. KSU (01-scout)

Equating Toledo with a banana peel may be your only slip up.

Indeed! Broken Glass would have been more appropriate. And Akron should be the blown tire. And WMU should the carnage of a shipwreck.

I suggest that Miami is the leftover sole of a discarded Sperry boat shoe.

I honestly think I could have made more sense if I threw darts at names on the wall blindfolded. With the information that we have to this point, this is how that list looks.

WMU - Lost to #4; beat #3, #7, and "garbage"
NIU - Lost to #5; beat "garbage", "garbage", and "garbage"
BG - Lost to #1, beat #7, "garbage", and "garbage"
Toledo - Lost to nobody yet, beat #1, #5, "garbage", and "garbage"
CMU - Lost to "garbage", beat #2, #7, and "garbage"
Akron - Lost to #7 and "garbage", beat "garbage" and "garbage"
Ohio - Lost to #1, #3, and #5; beat #6

Since winning and losing means pretty much everything in college football, I would say a monkey drawing team names out of a hat in order could come up with a list that makes as much if not more sense.

Right, cause it's only conference games that determine how good a team is? 03-lmfao

Keep telling yourself that Toledo is the best team in the conference.

Since I quoted your post before posting mine, at first I thought I must have missed where you ranked the non-conference opponents in your list when I just read this response. I have re-read it like five times and I still can't identify the portion where you ranked anyone other than MAC teams. I'm left assuming that you decided to change the rules of the game once it was pointed out that your list appeared as something of a wish rather than based on actual results on the field. Maybe that's what the 03-lmfao is for...

Also, I re-read what I wrote and am unable to identify the portion where I stated anything remotely close to "Toledo is the best team in the conference." Wrong guy for that statement, buddy.

0-2 but keep your chin up.

With Rawls gone for CMU, and them not being so impressive against Buffalo... and BSU improving with their new QB & actual offense... here's my rankings, with "games back" to show distance... in a "how are they NOW, and expected to be in the next few games, performance/toughness wise..."

Toledo
WMU 1
NIU 1.5
BUGS 2
Ball State 2.5
CMU 3
Akron 3
UMass 3.5
Ohio 4
Miami 4
EMU 6
Buffalo 6
Kent State 6.5

I think WMU is playing the best out of anyone right now.

That doesn't really mean anything, though. Toledo most likely isn't going to lose twice. This is the worst I think I've ever seen the MAC.

6-2 whippeee, as far as I am concerned toledo would be 7-1 because um... CMU.
Luckily we decide these things on the field.

I am enjoy the annual tradition of watching you try to convince yourself Toledo is better than NIU, only to inevitably watch Toledo lose to NIU in November. It's fun.

Though "Power Rankings" are normally not decided on that basis.

Actually, a number of didn't things that matter are not decided on that basis. For instance, it is the Football Bowl subdivision ... Northern Illinois is bowl eligible, Bowling Green, Toledo, WMU and CMU each one win for bowl eligibility, and Kent, MiamiU and UMass ineligible for bowls.

In terms of wins, all of the 5/+ win schools are 3/+ wins in the conference, so I see it in 5 tiers:

1. Bowling Green, Toledo, NIU, CMU, WMU, internal power ranking to be determined during November MACtion.

2. Akron, even record, even conference record.

3. MiamiU, OhioU, UMass, Buffalo, Ball State. Internal "meh" ranking to be determined during November MACtion.

4. EMU.

5. Kent State. If they were a baseball team, they'd be bringing up players from the farm team for experience for next year.

That is ridiculous. If this is the worst that you have ever seen the MAC, then you have not seen much of the MAC over the years.
We have 3 wins over B1G schools and 1 over an ACC. Yes, this is not uncommon in recent years, but normally it is our top teams beating the bottom P5s. We have grown to the point that our mid to bottom teams can beat the P5 mid to bottom teams on any given day.

This is not our best season in recent years, but it is a far cry from our worst! 05-nono

There's not a dominant QB in the conference for the first time in a while. You can trace it back over the years - Lynch, Harnish, LeFevour, Davis, Gradkowski, etc.

According to ESPN power index:

%to win out:
EMU .1%
Miami 4.3%
OU 6.5%
UMASS 6.2%
Buffalo 3.9%
Ball State 6.6%
Akron 5.3%
CMU 31.1%
BG 2.2%
WMU 9.4%
Toledo 11.3%
NIU 9.3%

All I can take away is that CMU has one tough game left vs. WMU and that's really it. BG shouldn't beat both Akron, and Toledo. And Toledo looks in good shape because NIU and UT should both lose one, and in that case UT goes to the MACC. Just another ranking systems opinion. Very interesting though.

Dominant offense or dominant QB? Frohnaple of UMASS would have even better statistics if their running game was more effective, if he had a veteran Oline, maybe a few more options, or if their Defense didn't give up more than they were scoring.

2921 yards good for #2 nationally.
23 TD's good for #6 nationally.
132.2 rating good for #64 nationally.

He's hands down the best QB in the MAC with the offense that they run. Dominant? Maybe not, but if there was one guy to talk about has a possibility it would be Fro.

Maybe I should re-word my earlier post. Among the teams that are competing for the MACC this season (Toledo, NIU, WMU, BG, Akron, CMU; [I don't think UMASS will win the East with 7 losses already.]), there isn't one with a QB that any of us can honestly say is better than the others. Every single one can have a good day and they can just as easily have a bad day and cost their team a game.
